He's setting the bar pretty low if he's confident 4.0 will beat the mobile game.

As for D4, it should be good. They can *probably* learn from their mistakes while copying all the core features of recent ARPG's that made them great, and then you put D3's super smooth and fluid combat which most ARPG's do *not* have.

The story was average, the character building was bad, but the combat and visuals in D3 were fantastic.

While I applaud him for setting a high goal, I dont see how this is even remotely possible, without massive engine, modeling, and graphical upgrades. Not to mention server stability and performance that these "upgrades" will require.

I think a more nuanced statement of expectations would have been more reasonable. PoE is old, its unlikely it will compete with Diablo 4 from a nuts and bolts point of view, and tbh the core gameplay is getting stale after all these years.

I hope 4.0 (for it's own sake) has some incredible changes that live up to the claim of jumping into the next generation fight.

I dont want to seem pessimistic here, but man that claim and pre'hype for 4.0 seems dubious.

Good luck GGG team! Competition is great for all gamer and I hope your expectations live up to reality!

First: D3 was hugely successful because of the name brand and battle.net. But it was an inferior product in every way. A small team developed a game called Titan Quets with a better engine and better mechanic. It took D3 years to have a game that was "acceptable". BTW, considering the resolution and the different resources, Titan quest was awesome. I remember the water waves in Titan quest adn the ripples when walking. D3 did not even have that. Also, I remember D3 code was (and still is) so inefficient, that you needed a top tier video card to be able to experience the game without graphic lag.

Second: The original Diablo team is gone to work on other projects with other companies. Diablo on phones was built by another company and it appears they are just skinning it. It shows that Blizzard is only an empty shell innovation wise.

Third: Have you not read about the financials issues of the consortium owning Blizzard and Blizzard itself?

Fourth: I have been playing POE since 1 year and half and every league was superior to any Diablo expansion (I will not even mention the seasons, it was simply a re-balance of already existing items and skills).

Fifth: Blizzard communication with its players (aka customers) is awful. If you look at the statistics of the previous years, the only growth in players was in China with ALL their game. Almost all public games with D3, SC, Warcraft, Heroes of the storm are chinese. It is easy, the characters of their toon is in chinese.

Sixth: No offense, but if POE is such old and a bad game, just stop losing your time posting here and go play a more modern game.

Thank you

D4 is definitely coming.

A game like PoE lives or dies by its streamers imo. When/if D4 comes and Mathil, Raiz, Ziz etc swaps over to D4 and stays there then PoE is doomed.

I must have missed all the announcements saying that Diablo 4 was being made.

It was leaked a few different times after the fiasco at blizzcon. It is indeed being made, whether or not it reaches completion is the real question

That's because the game played for you. You only thought you were controlling your character.

Have you seen how blizzard have been doing in like the last decade? You can't see how GGG can succeed I can't see how they can fail -_-

Frankly I have no idea what you are even droning on about. I posted a link to an article that mentions PoE taking on the next generation arpgs (specifically D4)

I was merely suggesting that would be difficult if not impossible as constructed.

I like PoE and have supported with thousands over the last 6+ years.

It's not an insult to say an old game is old. Why are you so sensitive about it? If you cant handle different thought and argument perhaps the forums are a poor place for you to be.

They are already failing to a degree. If wolcen, last epoch, and anyothers become half as good as they are expected GGG will have major losses way before D4 gets released. Then not to mention D4 still has not been officially announced, so it could easily be 2022 or later before it even gets released. With GGG's absolute desire to not change, they may not even come close to being able to compete with D4 by then. They refuse to update trade, refuse to change endgame of maps, and hide everything behind tons of stupid range. Not to mention this is th eonly game where you are rewarded for farming trash mobs and not bosses, which is lame.

They aren't already failing to a degree i'm not fanboying them here they have literally no competition right now and a bunch of unreleased maybes doesn't qualify as competition either :/

Its like Grim Dawn is great but it honestly shouldn't be included in the same category as PoE you can't compare a straight ARPG to a GaaS.

I hope the likes of Wolcen and Last Epoch do match up to peoples expectations I love ARPGs and will play just about any that get made lol but i'm not gonna jump the gun early here and say that GGG are failing to match up to a game that isn't out and has a good chance of not being so for several more years.
