Got scammed for the first time. Sucks :(
" Nope. This has always been present in this game and always will be. all these threads really do is become this long morality/fault debate. Nothing will ever change, and that supporter has already quit. GGG doesn't care, nor does most of the community. |

" No. The OP was scammed by an unscrupulous individual praying on people not knowing about the oldest trick in the book and it's the oldest because it's a fucking good one; the ol' switcheroo. The best way of learning is by experiencing, and this will be his first but not the last. He did however do nothing wrong. " No. I do disagree, though. " I'm no more a crusader in this than you are. I didn't create this thread, I just post in it. Incidently, just like you do. Going outside is highly overrated

So stoop to his level. Great idea to improve the community. Why not scam someone else in turn. Then that person scams. And so on. That way everyone gets scammed and we're all on the same level.
Or, take this as a lesson learned, double check the item you're buying, and call out the scammers so that's one less person they scammed off of. Gee. There's an idea. And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

Thanks for the support, advice and general discussion on the topic guys. None of the replies are wrong as such, everyone has different views.
The bones of it is - a player was intentionally trying to deceive others into thinking they were buying one item, but taking advantage over the incredible similarity to another, cheaper, item to trick players into parting with their currency for an item that wasn’t originally agreed upon. No physical money was lost, only the time invested in the game has. Which still isn’t nice. Those saying GGG can’t chase after every scam claim are right - otherwise they’d be here for the rest of eternity dealing with hundreds (maybe thousands) of these cases every week. They do however need to perhaps consider revisiting the trade system. Maybe adding in a cool-off period where by either party can opt out and reclaim their item/currency with no hassle. Maybe some sort of small checkbox to confirm the items details before agreeing - not entirely sure just throwing ideas out there. This is obviously a fairly common problem judging from the replies so maybe it’s time for GGG to set aside some time and resource to implement a system that’s a possible prevention to the vast majority of these cases, as opposed to trying to issue a small cure to a larger problem. As for me, I’ll certainly be MUCH more careful in the future if I do ever come back. Let’s see what the next league is like. |

" This would be so dumb. You already have to physically hover your mouse over the item to verify what the item is, that's all any game needs in a trade. This was an expensive learning curve, some people keep going while others give up |

" Exactly what I've been trying to say. And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

If it makes you feel any better im lvl 95 and was blessed this league.
Ive spent around 15ex running beacheads thus far on Betrayal. I got bored and cocky last night and vaald my kaoms (mind you i only have around 40chaos right now without selling mad stuff.) effectively bricking my character for a minute. And yes I know the qual wasnt 20% LOL Moral of this story is, it sucks to suck. I also ACCIDENTALLY jewler orbed my first ever 6link (way back when 6links were considered exotic period, where a 6link life tri res armor would be like 15ex). I was tired and excited and need to chromatic the right colors for it, i think i quit PoE for a bit after that one. |
