I once played EVE Online. I read every word on an item when it comes to trading. XD
And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.
It was your own fault though, you fell for obvious scam and you didn't bother checking expensive gear that you're buying.

Scammers have attempted to scam me numerous times by offering lower prices on my items and pretended that those are legit prices to fool me.

Trading system in this game is god awful simply because of 2 reasons:

1. Situations like these.
2. People who play in groups can actually determine the price of a specific items and get rich extremely quickly, which is ridiculous and by doing so screwing everyone else who is solo or has little to no friends in this game.

Next time, be more careful when you're buying something, that is if you can go through all those fake afk dummy accounts who are price fixing items. (ANOTHER HUGE PROBLEM)

Thanks for your replies guys. Does actually make me feel better. Unfortunately this really put a downer on my league experience. I work quite a lot so unless I get REALLY lucky again like I did with the 6L, it'd take me a considerable amount of time to make that sort of currency again. Decided to trade my Kaoms heart and the small remaining currency from the 6L belly sale to a friend to help accelerate his build :) this really killed any motivation to want to play again this league.

And I did speak to him when this happened. He just put one smiley face and never replied again. I fake-traded with him later on, asking for the Grelwood shank again on a different character. He did the exact same thing and put another Beltimber blade in. When I said that's not the Grelwood shank, he cancelled trade and left party. Never replies to any PM's.

He really has no interest in actually trading fair and square. Just using the Grelwood to rope people in due to the incredibly similar stats and near identical splash art. Hope you guys caught his name!
I don't get it, he traded you a rare Item?
No offense but how can you fall for that? you looked at the stats but failed to notice it was a rare and not a unique?
No lol. Go on poe.trade or google and type in Grelwood shank, then in a new tab look for Beltimber Blade. Look at the stats, look at the splash art. They're the same other than the Beltimber is slightly green and the Grelwood is slightly orange. One is worth 3c, one is worth 1 to 2+ exalt
They really need to remove the 10 second timer requiring you to trade before you've had a chance to read the item you're trading for. Oh... wait... there isn't one.

It is my own fault but the item was priced accordingly. It was slightly more expensive than the others due to having decent stats. He's using the fact that Beltimber blade and Grelwood shank use the same splash art, and roll near identical stats. Please stop making out like I made a basic mistake that was clear to see at first glance. He'd had it so the Physical damage % and attack speed % were identical on both the advertised Grelwood and the scam traded Beltimber. So on a moderate observation it looks legit. First 3 stats match, splash art matches, sockets and colours correct.
Russian player, started playing this summer, not active on forum.

Probably casual and learning, many early-mid 80's builds.
A free player, no mtx or supporter packs.

Now he found a way to scam people and he thinks he can keep getting away with that.

And he can, GGG won't do anything about it.

No, it's never your fault when you're scammed. Fault implies you did something wrong, and unless trading in PoE is wrong, OP did nothing that would constitute being at fault.
