Got scammed for the first time. Sucks :(

" No. People need to stop putting blame where no blame lies. It's vigilant to check, check again and triple check, but not doing so isn't wrong. It just isn't. Going outside is highly overrated

" Technically he wasn't cheating. You hit accept. You were in control. Now if he managed to get your password and trade himself items, yep, that'd be cheating. But you agreed to a trade. No different than signing on the dotted line of a Bill of Sale that reads "as is". Once that happens, you own it. The engine shoots a rod three miles down the road, like it did to me, its yours. I agreed to the terms. I own it. I don't go back to the owner and ask that he buy the truck back from me. Listen, I'm not trying to defend the guy. It sucks. Its a lousy way to play the game. People like this are all over; in game, and out. Always question a good deal. Always read the fine print. And always listen to your gut instinct. And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

" You go to buy a red Camaro for $9,000. You show up to a white Pinto. Guy hands you the Bill of Sale. Do you sign? I mean, you're supposed to sign a Bill of Sale, right? No, you don't. You look at what you are about to buy and what you intended to buy. Two different things. You cut bait and walk away. You signed. Done deal. An important lesson was learned here. One day you'll understand. And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

" It wasn't a 'good deal'. Again it was priced slightly above the lowest - but correctly according to the stat rolls. It's not like he was drastically underpricing it and I got roped in. There were others available, there was another with 1% more phys damage but the player was AFK - almost fate I was to get scammed. And as much as you're trying not to defend the guy, pretty much everything you're saying is trying to relieve him of his actions, as if it's ok for him to do it. Saying that it's acceptable, nothing needs to be done, we should all just be more careful. Both are true though sadly. I will be more careful in future, assuming I ever come back to play this game. But more needs to be done to prevent and punish this behaviour. There isn't even an option on the report player menu to notify GGG of a scam. I'm sure it goes on far far more frequently than we realise, but it's like GGG just wants to brush it under the carpet and pretend it never happens. |

" If you sign, knowing it isn't what was agreed upon, then, yes, you're obviously at fault, too. But that's not the case here. Expecting to get exactly what you pay for isn't wrong. It doesn't matter what you say, it just isn't. Going outside is highly overrated

" Unfortunately, there is nothing GGG can really do, short of monitoring every trade, and even then you can still claim it was a mistake. They would have to hire a staff similar to what Ebay has to handle each and every case which obviously is completely untenable. And for this reason, there are also no rules against it because you kind of need to police your own rules. That's the grim reality, I'm afraid. Take a break, recuperate, and think about how we all have gone through this, both in real life and in games. It happens from time to time. Going outside is highly overrated

" Well, its clear the OP didn't read the item tooltip to get the exact item was intended to buy. I actually chuckled the first time I did a trade because I had to hover over the item to "prove" you read the tooltip. Think of that as the "as is" agreement in a bill of sale. Again, it sucks. I hate these people just as much as the OP does. Much of my clientele are like these people. I deal with them almost all day long. I cannot stress the importance of reviewing your purchase before you hand over the funds enough. Check. Read the numbers. Then agree. It takes four seconds to do so. I'm tellin' yeas, this happens EVERYWHERE. Start renting out apartments, cashing checks, buying vehicles, houses, land, and running businesses. Stuff like this is a daily occurrence. Buying vehicles is by far the worst of it. Tenants can be just as bad. And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.
