Got scammed for the first time. Sucks :(

Sorry for what happened to you, keep in mind that the number of assholes like that is not representative of the PoE userbase it's only few players, the one that i won't regret once they are gone.

Be careful when trading items next time and have a good game.

Especially when laying down a, what I would consider, a decent amount of in-game currency.

Honestly, the similar looks of the two items tells me one of two thing:

1. GGG hired someone from Blizzard to design these two graphics.

or

2. This is somewhat intentional.

is it not theoretical possible that the trade site, here poe forum trade would make a check, if the seller puts in the real item that was listed at trade site with all stats and if just one single stat or item type does not match with the item, their trade site offered to copy the whisper thing, then action would be taken to watch this trade so the buyer gets a chance to get back his currency. I think when PoE offers this trade system, then they should have to watch for it. Not by a real person who has to look each trade what has been done, no by a program that simply checks if the given item matches with the item from trade site.

Otherwise they will have to change their trade system. Not saying they shall make it auction house. But the buyer should be protected from getting scammed.
There are so many spy programs, why not use one to spy on the daily trades from everyone.

They literally force you to hover over the item before you are allowed to click accept. What better protection they could possibly offer? You want a warning pop-up everytime you make a trade? I don't think you do.

Recently I also scammed myself for the first time. Bought a super cheap Essence worm with some aura corruption.

Anything above 2c I always take an extra few sec to make sure the item/stats is right.

You can't trust Traders/Buyers/Sellers/that random guy in the corner of your hideout, you can't even trust yourself.

I really don't get why people expect GGG to protect them from themselves more? Are we really that entitled and lazy now? It would be understandable if it was like in D2 where you could switch the item real quick, but if you switch the item in PoE it resets the trade, and the buyer now has to re-scan the item. So people want to complain because THEY are not taking the time to check that it is indeed the correct item with the correct stats before clicking accept. GGG gave you a way to protect yourself, don't blame them when you decide it is to much of an inconvenience to take 5-10 sec to verify it is indeed the correct item, especially on a big purchase

This thread makes me weep for humanity. Having scammers in the game is bad enough, and mercifully rare enough. But to see the pile-on of "you have no one to blame but yourself" and "suck it up, buttercup" types, well THAT depresses the hell out of me. Do you people have zero fucking empathy?
