Please remove the mystery boxes because it's Hazard Gaming

An advertisement for a shampoo that has a beautiful woman in a show is less ethical than GGGs loot boxes, but I bet you still buy bathroom products from those companies.

but those companies aren't campaigning or attempting to be distinct by claiming they are ethical. GGG however have set out to do "ethical microtransactions" and stated as much, but Mystery Boxes expose the fact that this is no longer true. Like many other publishers they intend to set out to exploit their playerbase. Change these to be buy-what-you-want (and can directly afford) and this problem goes away.

so you live in an unethical world voting for unethical political parties paying money to unethical companies every day and the 1 thing youre going to boycot giving money to is a company being extremely ethical by the standards of its industry and the business world as a whole because you think they are not quite as extremely ethical as they say they say they want to be....

ok mate.

you make about as much sense as this thread so well done for keeping it consistent in here at least. Something tells me the kind of problems you have are not going away regardless of loot boxes. For most of us there are no problems, and the stuff in the loot boxes does go on sale at fixed price buy what you want, but keep fighting the good fight anyway.

lol tbh.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Mystery boxes are dirty way to earn money. Tricking kids to buy points to spend on boxes with a low (or non existant) chance to get armour effects. In my country this is called Hazard Gaming and is illegal for kids.

Put the new sin and innocence sets as armour packs instead and stay classy.

Opposed to say Apple tricking kids/parents/pretty much everyone to spend $1000 every year on the newest I-phone that they do not need by implying that ''THEY REALLY NEED TO HAVE IT''? Did you also petitioned Apple on that matter or you were typing that from your newest phone?

they do list the items, and the probability of getting them, and theyre all just cosmetic shiny things that have no impact in or out of the game.

they list the chances for the item tiers only (rare 20%, uncommon 35%, common 45%) however they do not state if there are any biases within those categories. ie. we have no idea whether there's an equal chance for Sin Sword Skins to drop compared to Sin Wings _if_ a rare item is selected.

until this information is clearly expressed (per-item), and they do something to deal with duplicates (as in let us recover some mtx value from duplicates we don't want) I'm no longer buying supporter packs.

Mystery Boxes as they currently are implemented are not "ethical" in any shape or form.

Go read it again, and pay attention this time.
The mystery boxes are fine. Far better for people to learn how risky behavior plays out in a video game than in the real world with drugs/drinking or other dangerous habits. GGG taking them out of the game isn't going to stop people from gambling, they will just shift it somewhere else. Deny it all you want, rationalize it however you wish, but it remains the truth.

If someone can't resist buying mystery box after mystery box despite getting stuff they don't want, they should seek professional counseling for a gambling addition. There may be other underlying mental issues that they don't know about, some of which can be resolved.

its unethical. its a slot machine. and ggg knows it.

Plenty of rationalising going on here, you've got that right. "If not here, it'll happen somewhere else" is a defence of every sleazy behaviour known to man. And this is the real world: it's real people spending real money, as with any other kind of gambling.

I can just imagine GGG putting out a statement saying they believe they're doing a social good by educating people about risk in an environment that doesn't involve drugs. That would certainly be a sight.
this topic again ?

boxes are good value (unless you want something specific), odds are clearly stated. whats the issue ?

is the issue that youre paying for a chance ?
lotteries and raffles and drawings say hi

is the issue that youre playing in to addictive behavior ?
drugs are sold legally all the time over the counter in stores. games by themselves can be addictive behavior. should non-adults be subjected to not being able to buy these ? yes, by parents not giving them CC info. should adults make their own decisions unless they have a deep psychological problem and are pure degenerate gamblers ? yes.
nothing is wrong with the loot boxes...

everything is fine...

in fact... i think ggg put the wrong stuff in the boxes...

it shouldn't be cosmetics...

they shld put kaom heart, light poacher, windripper n all those 6 link shit etc in the boxes...

If ggg made lootboxes would give never duplicates - that would be not hazard.

Right now it actually is hazard! :(

..also aka gambling addictmatert

GGG why!

+1. The problem here is you can find duplicates. That make it hazard game, because you potentially could never find what you are looking for, even spending a lot. More, in this game finding a dupe is like finding nothing, AND SPENDING MONEY IN A SYSTEM THAT COULD GIVE YOU NOTHING IS CONSIDERED IN ALMOST EVERY COUNTRY HAZARD GAME. If there weren't dupes, you'd know that (before or later) spending money will grant your goodie.

I can caps too: YOU CAN BUY THE SAME ITEMS FOR POINTS YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET THEM OUT OF A LOOT BOX FFS

It doesn't matter.
I like the doubles as well. I can keep on different chars and not be switching all the time. Have bunch of pets in both HO's. Decorations are great to have several of the same also, they usually have several variations to choose from so they look a little different anyway.

Loot box is a good, fun way to support ggg and have something in return, that doesn't affect gameplay.
