Please remove the mystery boxes because it's Hazard Gaming

At the end of the day whether you choose to accept it or not, people have the right to choose what they want to do with their own money, even if the money is their parent’s (It’s the parent’s responsibility to monitor where their money is going and if they don’t, that’s on them).

The argument that kids are being tricked or adults are being tricked into buying these mystery boxes doesn’t hold up when GGG explicitly states that upon purchasing a mystery box, you’ll have a random chance at receiving x item and that the random item is guaranteed to cost (at least) the same price. GGG does not state that you’ll receive a specific item, rather you have the chance too.

You could say children aren’t going to look at that text, rather they’re going to press that BUY button and input that credit card information asap, which is fair, but again (parents) have a responsibility to monitor these kinds of things and make sure their children aren’t buying crap they don’t want them to.

You can make the argument that mystery boxes and loot boxes are unethical and therefore shouldn’t be allowed, but I think GGG has done an amazing job at making the purchase of MTX fair in that they don’t build content around MTX and your progress in-game isn’t put behind a paywall nor is there an unfair advantage being given to players who make the choice to buy these MTX, loot or mystery boxes. You simply look cool going through the content that everyone else goes through.

Again, at the end of the day what you choose to do with your money is your business and no one else’s. GGG, in my opinion, has the most reasonable and fair MTX practices than any other game out there and for that reason I’d never regret spending a dime on this game because I believe GGG deserves it. I can’t give enough appreciation to the people who go out and their way and spend money that I could never spend on this game. They love the game and choose to spend their hard earned money knowing that its only cosmetic and nothing more. I also can't give enough appreciation to every staff member in GGG.

(havent read the full thread)

-its NO loot box, just cosmetics without gaming advantage (beside better look) ;)
-the content AFAIK is never of a lower 'value' then its price.

It's called a "Mystery Box" for a reason, and you have the free will to purchase it or not.

Yeap, but all it can give you is some shiny pixels that you wont ever need.
Haven't read every page of the thread, just the first few, so bear with me if I am essentially repeating what has already been voiced.

- I would be disgruntled with loot boxes if the content was; Exclusive to the boxes and never released again / Provided a tangible in game advantage that wasn't just cosmetic. The fact that they are just cosmetics AND that they are available later for purchase makes them entirely optional and fine. IMO you shouldn't consider direct purchase MTX as getting it late, rather consider the boxes as getting it early and the normal buying options as its normal release. I have popped a few boxes, but usually just with leftover points after buying any personal stash tabs / guild stash tabs.

That's not to say I don't disagree a little with how GGG handles stash tabs.

- Playing for more than a couple weeks into a league with just the basic stash tab setup starts to become a ridiculous juggling act if you want to pick up all currency / maps / cards / essence, etc etc. You end up needing to convert currency back and forth constantly just to save stash space, good luck doing chaos recipe efficiently, no point trying to store gear for crafting or other builds if you dont have 10 mules just to carry it. Yes it's possible, yes GGG employees need to eat, but the sheer level of pressure that's put on a mid - end game player to start filling out more stash tabs is absolutely immense. I wholeheartedly agree that it would be nice for players to get an extra stash tab each league for doing X number of challenges, even if there was an upper limit of say, 4.

Don't get me wrong, paying $30 for a currency tab, a map tab, two extra tabs and one premium conversion for trading is completely reasonable imo, most people would pay that much for a game that they would be happy putting 1/5 of the time into. And with that tab setup along with the ones you start with you shouldn't have any problem playing an entire league without stash issues. Sure chaos recipe might still be a bit harder without a dedicated tab for each slot piece, and you cant hoard shiny things just for sake of having a trophy case, but it's nice enough to play with.

tl;dr: Loot boxes are a non issue, stash tabs are dodgy on the p2w argument but still reasonable.
