I just want to point out the extreme hypocrisy and low life of some people who call people in this thread a bunch of "low life circle jerk", because they disagree with their opinion. Yet that same person ended up making a circle jerk of himself in the same very thread for an entire day.

Paul Ryan is not lying here. They can't deny you coverage. But that is not the reason people are going to lose it anyway, the price of coverage for people with preexisting condition will spike so much, that people won't be able to afford it.

You see? Paul Ryan is not a liar, he is just a deceptive MF.

Anyone who's traded in Path of Exile should know that "you can't deny anyone, but you can price things as high as you want" is functionally equivalent to "you can deny anyone." I find the GOP stance extremely disingenuous.

That said, I'm not against what they're actually doing within the context of non-emergency routine care (the kind one makes appointments for). It is exactly that kind of care where the Canadian system breaks down and people go to the US and voluntarily pay good money to get treatment in a timely manner. My main concerns under proposed legislation are that those with pre-existing conditions who don't get (very expensive) insurance would risk financial destitution for emergency care that they cannot shop around for — I'm an advocate for single-payer emergency care — and that the non-emergency part of the health care industry continues to be regulated such that Big Pharma always wins and the free market doesn't function.
