Sometimes it's worth to pick up every yellow item

My strategies have changed over the years. From very early on I chose to use a hybrid strategy - accrue one set of unid items at a time, and ID any duplicate pieces (i.e. if I have 2 rings in the WIP set, and I drop a ring, I ID it). This way, I get (sort of) the best of both worlds - I get a ton of Chaos income from unid recipe, but I still get the "thrill" of identifying a lot of main pieces, and once in a while a jewelry piece. The jewelry pieces are almost always terrible, by the way.

In the past this has meant picking up every rare item I found. But this was before exiles, strongboxes, keepers of the trove, tormented spirits, ascendancies, and now prophecies, at a time when 20c equalled 1 e,. Massive power creep + a bit more game knowledge = a fuck ton more loot to sort through, which means that plenty of rares get skipped.

Nowadays I mostly just pick up rare until inventory is full, then replace with 6S/RGB and smaller rares as I go along, only consuming a map portal if there's a big lootsplosion.

On my mf char I go through 60 to 80 wisdom scrolls per map as I id every single yellow that drops. Why bother? I enjoy it.

As others have said, the concepts of xp/hr and chaos/hr are completely meaningless and have absolutely nothing to do with enjoying the game -- for me.

I always use up all 6 portals bringing stuff out to vendor, then with the 30 to 50 other rares left I go through them to decide which are worth taking out to either trade or get the best return from vendoring them. Finding zana and having a 2nd map worth of stuff to id is always interesting.

I do the id'd chaos recipe.

rings, amus, leather/heavy belts and goliath/titan stuff is all i take.

the chaos recipe is imo only good to get startet in a new league later i dont care about 2c... i prefer to run map after map for xp

Uniques are so grossly overpowering at this point that most base items are not worth picking up.
Basically all non ES helms,armors,gloves and most weapon classes.

I run a 40iiq/40iir build but it feels like most of my gains is from selling 6 sockets.

Always pick up rares. Always.

BTW them boots aint that good anyway. 10-20c you prolly had to ID 1000 boots to find. I got better things to do like buy something for 10c sell it for 25c and buy your boots.
