Sometimes it's worth to pick up every yellow item

"
All about a matter of choice. I choose to be the guy buying alterations, sorry.

It's always nice to buy your chaos ;)
Give a man a fish, and you can feed him for a day.
But give a fish a man, and you can feed it for a month.
To each his own, but I used to ignore the common advice and pick up every piece of currency and rare I saw drop. I did find a few good items now and then, but eventually I realized that the chaos recipe was a waste of time and it took me forever to clear maps. Especially concerning armour...even if you find one with decent stats...you have to get sockets, links...which is a giant PITA. I found it much easier to focus on a few item types (esp smaller ones)...but I've been eliminating more and more since the returns are generally not too good. But I will always snag a rare Hubris Circlet, etc or other top end items that are worth keeping if they have good rolls.

But when speed clearing maps as I'm grinding for higher levels now I've noticed that I find at least a few chaos and alcs per map. Plus good maps now and then, as well as good rings, amus and the occasional good top end helm or boots. No trips back for more, and way better returns than dragging back 4 inventories full of shit rares. But I also don't grab a lot of the base currency...I get enough currency from drops and sales so that when I need some form of currency, I just buy it.

Ain't got no time to pick up Wisdom Scrolls. But when I need a break from speed running, then I use my MF character and pick up more stuff...but that's just to break up the monotony a little.

No, just those that choose to make the most of currency pyramid, nothing wrong with that, really.

Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

The speedrunners are actually the middle class, the trade moguls and cliques are the upper class :)
You have to be realistic about these things.

It all boils down to play style.

If you play these kind of games because of loot, and progressing your character by yourself, ID'ing would be the way to go, unless you're planning on chaos-spam.

If you on the other hand play this game not because of loot, but like progressing by the help of other peoples loot and achievements, chaos recipe would be the way to go.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Im with raics I identify everything I pick up, its great. I think its economically wise but Im not going to sell the idea because ultimately its made wiser by the fact that non of you do it.

I like finding items, found this amulet in dried lake near the end of last league...

because, you know, dont identify stuff in shit tier non map areas where good stuff cant drop right?

I use a lot of gear I have either found, alched or been given by a guild mate whos done the same on builds in standard where Id only ever use pretty ridiculous items.

Worth picking up every yellow item? No, most certainly not.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I like id'ing stuff and hoping beyond hope, but I also know it slows me down considerably and costs me currency. I guess it all boils down to what you like, like everything else.
