Reflect is fine currently.
Lack of chaos reflect not fine.
Chaos reflect would appropriately impact current meta.
Naive to think GGG not going to change something about reflect immune chaos builds.

I just want it to not spawn on mobs that are hidden or are summoned from boxes/bosses. Same with volatile and cb. You need time to react for there to be counterplay.

Well I guess we're going to see chaos innoculation make a comback finally then? XD
I'm just wondering if my ascendancy class having 100% resist ignore on crit means reflected damage hits me like that too. I don't usually have issues even without a life leech gem(4s links is hard to lose a spot in), but reflect maps I can't do at all because I can't maintain a topaz flask long enough.

I feel like I don't understand Reflect at all. I just recently got to maps for the first time ever playing this game. I'm using a Voltaxic LA/BR build, and got a map that said 13% of physical damage is reflected back to me. All the guides to this type of build said that I should be basically immune to all reflect, since most of my damage is chaos.
However on that map I fired one shot of Lightning arrow into the first pack I saw and instantly died. I was level 73, 4.4k health, 30% evasion, and every pack would insta-kill me as soon as I attacked it. How is 13% of my very small amount of physical damage managing to kill me instantly? Can someone explain the reflect mechanics to me or something because it is not working how I imagined it would.

They will. Pretty sure Chris said something about that on State of Exile. Might have been something about Chaos Damage not being able to leech, or something else.

I have read most of this thread and most people dont think reflect is fun . I agree but i also agree with the people that likes the reflect for its impact on the game to slow you down and not dominate the monsters . But reflect is not a good mechanic on its own and shouldn't be in poe or d3 or any advanced loot based game .
The thing is reflect is limiting build diversity and also creative freedom for the developers and us gamers . Just look at the unbalanced chaos conversion dps many builds use as an example of a limited end game build option in this game . Imo reflect is one of the worst designed mechanics in gaming history . In poe reflect is even a bigger problem than most simular games because poe can be such a creative and fun game with tons of different builds . i guess poe is the game with the most potential of all games out there atm to have diversity and creative builds , too bad a single mechanic like reflect stops that for happening . To be honest poe has so much potential to be a awesome game .
But the game needs to have difficult mechanics just other mechanics than reflect . This is the part where ggg can use their creativity and intelligence to upgrade the games mechanics in a balanced way ofc or the game hasn't improved in quality .

Wrong. Chaos damage is the problem, not the reflect. There are many other things that limit you in the game:
- Your eHP pool
- Elemental/Chaos resistances
- Lack of physical damage mitigation
And so on.
The reason you picked DPS being limited by reflect only shows that some players consider DPS as the most important thing about the character. It is not - characters are far more complex than that, and reflect knocking down these tool-tip DPS heroes is only for the better.

This x100. IMO the goal of these mechanics should be to force you to pay attention as you play, rather than limiting the design of your build in advance.

its not wrong , yeah i agree with the other mechanics you mention but reflect is also in that category . My characters are mainly focused on defence because in this game its so much weird things happening in general . To not stack only dps stats in a build i agree is important for the game but reflect imo is not the answer to counter that . I have played rpgs for 20 years and poe is one of the most interesting games of them all . Its very complex which is awesome but reflect will always be a problem in rng loot based games , its better to implement other original and challenging mechanics for poe .
