trade

I would just be happy with a simple way to trade with people across different time zones and schedules. Like I put the currency in the trade and go offline, he gets online and puts the item in the trade and accepts and goes offline, then i accept next time i'm online.

I'm not interested in buying pieces for 150 exalts (in the 500 hours I played I had three exalts drop) or even uniques! All I want to buy is good rares that can get me through higher level maps, but just knowing which roll on what item is worth how much is a lot of time that could be used to play the game. Which I think is GGG's first priorty (or should be).
If I want a traders and/or economics game I'll play capitalism 2, and if I want to trade for currency I'll use ebay and make real money instead.

Its this F***ing Facebook generation we have now ......

Get something through your head !!! YOU have difficulty lvls in this game ..... you can play in a kitty pool with your random rares but if you wane play THE F**** END GAME aka play with the big boys and have their results then prepare to invest as much time and effort as they did !! Don't expect ignoring 50% of this game (trading) and running ELITE content .....

People don't understand that the reason its hard to make a living in POE are the CHANCERS !!!

Uniques lose their value ...... so a random person who spends hours to get a lucky Unique drop can't profit on it because the market is spammed with Uniques . All the dirt cheap but GOOD uniques you see people spam in chat all day .... all because of Chancers ....

youre so annoying. THEM CHANCERS (what a seriously stupid term) ARE RUINGING EVERYTHING. posting that over every forum doesnt make it true nor does it make your point more valid. youre spewing unfounded bullshit.

edit: @topic: git gud and learn how to use the tools given to you. you wouldnt bitch playing "economy sim" in a football manager, would you? trading is as essential here, youre not trading players but items, same shit, different game. if you wanna compete you gotta do what the others do, not complain until it gets changes.

Anoyed ? GOOD !! Remove the CHANCE ORBs !! Chancers like this one over flood the markets. As to me not knowing how to play this game ....

Spoiler

And none of this was acquired through 10000 brainless Chance clicking. Now only Legacy items are safe against leeches like you. Every time a new Unique is released the Excitement value is 0 because you KNOW that in 24 hours those leeches will flood the market with copies and it becomes worthless .....

I love the people crying about an "Auction House". Third party sites already are auction houses and everyone already uses them. The only difference is GGG doesn't control them. So all these people love and use superior 3rd party trade mechanisms, but they absolutely DON'T want a good trade system controlled by GGG.

Hmm, I wonder why.

I could imagine that the main problem with a new trade system is that asynchronous trading without real player interaction is something GGG so far were always absolutely against*. It has to be kinda hard to come up with a system without it that's actually more attractive than what we've got now with third-party tools and not just a side-grade with an official GGG stamp on it.

*People cheerfully bartering is of course a cute roleplaying idea. But I'm not sure it's worth clinging to it since most players obviously just want to get done with a trade and back to playing asap.

EXACTLY! People screaming that the trade system is fine...at the same time they are admitting that it is not by stating they use poe.trade. This logic failure drives me crazy.

The same players that argue for a convenient way to trade stuff will complain that nothing sells once it is implemented. They simply do not understand that trading has to have a certain level of inconvenience since a transparent and convenient market will reduce the value of all but the rarest items to almost 0.

How is that even remotely bad ?

The good stuff you sell goes for cheap, the good stuff you buy you get for cheap.

Great stuff you sell goes for a lot, great stuff you buy, you buy for a lot.

Best in slot items you sell , sell for a lot. Best in slot items you buy, you buy for a lot.

Thus, an auction house would vastly reduce the value of trash, which is fine. Would greatly increase turnover, which is good, as opposed to now where turnover is absolutely atrocious. And would allot buying or selling without interacting with the scum of the earth, which is people, again a massive plus.

The only thing trading inconvenience does is increase the value of trash, this is not really a positive thing doe since everyone finds trash, so you're still competing on a vast market. Unfortunately, trading inconvenience also wastes everyone's time and this is bad.

Self found players are not affected one bit. Traders get to increase their turnover up to infinity or the Inherent Auction House cap. And the regular player is now allowed to buy and sell crap if he so chooses with significantly less time invested, less inconvenience, more gameplay.

Diablo 3 had to implement an alternate drop model that greatly reduces the mod variation on items in favor of class desired main stat to counterbalance the removal of the auction house.

Diablo 2 is inherently incredibly easy, so trading is just an option, one can play D2 just fine without even being online, and the player gets an outrageous number of tools to tweak his build on the go, something that D3 implemented with Kanai cube and blood shards previously and PoE simply lacks (jewels are far too expensive skill investment wise).

That's why most people moan about trading in PoE and that they have to install shady third party programs to come even close to an AH form of selling. Buying trough the aforementioned shady program is fine doe, buying on the trade channels is ... god awful, worse even then trying to sell there.
Arbitrary placeholder decisions should never be embraced as final.
I find it very funny, and telling, that in the POE forums I can see a post with a title consisting only of the word "trade" and instantly know what the contents will be. And how the back-and-forth player dialog will play out.

Trade is the last important piece of the game that is in obvious dire need of an overhaul. Until then, I look forward to the next 100 identical POE trade rants!
