How about trying a game not as complicated as PoE? Rock, paper, scissors sounds like a good alternative for u...

I'd love to be able to trade while offline, that's all. Some sort of trade tabs ( visible by anyone/friends/guildies depending on the owner's choiche) with b/o or even offers that have to be accepted by both parties - in a limited but reasonable timeframe - would be great.

The only good way to sell/buy things should be poe.xyz. Trade channel is już awful with lot of players want to scam others spamming always with terrible ratio. Lot of dickheads too. Couple days ago I wanted to sell some chroms to make place in stash. I wrote on trade channel really great ratio 20chroms:1c. Even then guy who bought from me 40chroms tried to robe me accepting offer without chaos orbs counting for lack of attention. I came across with lot of similar situations(accepting offer without payment).

People for couple orbs can fall very low acting like thief/dick. Its just virtual currency....

We have poe.trade for pricechecks and browsing stuff, what can be easier?

I agree there are trade shocks happen regularly, but it's a part of economy and it cannot be predicted or prevented.

What can be easier? A system that works?
Let's see:
1) Poe.trade does not scan the forum completely. An unknown % of stuff gets dropped for no reason
2) Then you gotta find the player online, which is completely random since you have no idea what timezone he's in and what's his schedule
3) Then you gotta hope the guy is not some mannerless a-hole and is actually willing to sell it

Here's a system that works:
1) A mail system. It's frickin 2015 and an online game has no mail system, for real? You know, to send messages to offline people so they can read it when they log back in?
2) A parcel system. Send items to offline people, same comment as 1)
3) An offer system. Send offers to products to offline people

It took some time for someone to be insulting :)

I'm not interested in buying pieces for 150 exalts (in the 500 hours I played I had three exalts drop) or even uniques! All I want to buy is good rares that can get me through higher level maps, but just knowing which roll on what item is worth how much is a lot of time that could be used to play the game. Which I think is GGG's first priorty (or should be).
If I want a traders and/or economics game I'll play capitalism 2, and if I want to trade for currency I'll use ebay and make real money instead.

@zenhaya: Maybe you should learn to read (try a book once in a while) because I never said poe is complicated it's the trade system that is complicated!

and I play D3 aswell, both are good games now, only very different (thank god for the removal of the auction house there)

I 100% agree with the OP. I don't know why people are so bent on trading in these types of games that are not MMOs. I understand that this is a playstyle people enjoy, I just dont understand how they enjoy it, nor am I required to do so. But to my opinion...

Take D3 for example...horribly executed monetization model along with a horribly executed auction house. Once at max level, people bought their way to power(i.e. spend gold or real $$ to buy the best gear to be able to clear the hardest content). People forgot what it felt like to EARN your gear. Turning to POE, theres a debate whether a self-found character with 100 hours played on that character can ever compete with someone that trades for their gear.

Once Blizz realized the error of their ways, they took down their auction house for D3. You now have to earn everything you wear, its much more fair, and people actually play the game instead of play the trade channel/market. Its been a much MUCH better game since. You still have people that whine they want trading back, but they quickly forget that all you had to do was spend some gold or real $$ and get a full set up awsome gear real quick without any time spent actually killing monsters.

So again, I question why each of you are here playing this game if all you want to do at end game is trade currency/orbs for a better piece of gear?

Me personally, I'll accept the fact that if the game "tells" me that I cannot get to level 100 because I'll never self-find the gear for it. If that day comes I'll make the decision to either re-roll, or stop playing(because the game effectively ended). If the game is set up in that manner, that is truely a shame.

To the point of actually bartering, yeah I probably wont ever do that. If I do, it'll be very little. I honestly would rather be slaying monsters than checking websites, forums, and private messages in games to acquire gear. That seems so boring...like a lobby game. Never will I look up a build online, look at the gear requirements, level a char, and then begin trading for the complete gearset needed.

In addendum to my previous post:

I honestly wish trade would vanish from this game. But if it has to stay, make this change:

Kiosks.

Probably present in other games, but Aion comes to mind. Your character literally pulls up a stool and "advertises" his wares. You had the ability to list maybe 5 or 10 items at a clip or something, for a maximum of 30 minutes(for example). In Aion, I don't think you needed any item to create your kiosk, but maybe this could be something else that is "found" in POE. Find a Kiosk Orb or something, zone into a main town (or maybe create a new town for this specific purpose) and set up shop for 30 minutes while you go make dinner or something. You list your items, you specify how much you want for it...people either click 'buy' or they dont. You don't need to be at your computer for the transaction to happen either. In essence, it is like an auction house, but you can't just fill up a system with tons of useless crap. You have to find the 'ability' to set up a one-time consumable Kiosk, and even with that you are limited to the # of items you can list, and for how long.

I personally think its a win win for everyone.
Agreed. The horrible third-party off-game trading system is the only huge flaw I can see in this game. But in contrast I tend to agree that a full-fledged auction house can also be a big screw up.

There should be a midterm solution like some people here already mentioned, even an off-game API to set up a shop where we do not need to provide passwords nor ID's to third parties and laboriously manage a virtual shop.

I probably have over 1k hours into the game since when I first played and it is always the poor drop system allied with the poor trading system what deters me from becoming a true regular in the game and not a casual league starter. I'd even agree to leave the drop system as it is but make the trading system more efficient.
F***ing wannabe economy experts all around here.

There was nothing wrong with AH in D3, it's just that the rest of the game was trash.

Currency hoarders that play Path of Trading just want to stay rich and keep amassing stuff. The game would be much better if we could have an in-game trading system.

List item for a defined period of time, the longer the bigger fee you have to pay, if it doesn't sell the item is gone, the item is gone from your stash the moment you list it.

It's that simple, really.

Just dont make the fee ridiculous, bunch of alts per day would be fine.
