Is 350 jewelers to vorici [6s] worth it?
After my experiences with jewels, I only use them for vorici, even when I need to make 3/4S. ~500 jewels to 6S a high roll Searing Touch, 800-850 jewels to 6S a Cloak of Defiance. Yes, I will pay those 350 jewels, of course I will do.

GGG really needs to make the actual chances known for socketing and linking. We get the reports from just about everyone who goes over 350 while only a few reports from the people who used less. There's no way the players can make an informed choice.

Dont think so. 6s isnt that big of a problem, but 1500 fus for 6l, is a fair deal.

It's a goal mark and when you reach 350 you are absolutely sure that you can craft 6s.
I did it in my belly. Spend about 200 jewel's, two days before patch 1.2, and the best I got was one 5s. |

Question about the 5s purchase: Can the 5s purchase result in a 6s?

Definitely worth it. Ive been on both sides of RNG when it comes to jewelers. One chest took me over 1300 jewelers to 6s and then in other cases its taken me less than 20. So 350 seems like a reasonable bench mark. I'll throw 100 at something and then if I haven't hit it by then ill take the 350. But generally when I'm trying to craft something I'll just throw a few stacks at it every now and then. But if you were trying to do a crafting session in one go, Id take the 350.

As far as i know the exact chances for socketing/linking are still unknown and will probably always be. But there is a thread somewhere where players have deducted the chance for a 6s to be around 1/300 and GGG confirmed that the real chances are in fact somewhere close to that. Judging from that the 350 jewellers from Vorici seem like a fair price considering the guaranteed result.
If i got time, i will try to find that thread and post a link here later on. It had a lot of useful information and theorycrafting regarding socketing/fusing mechanics. edit: ah, totally forgot that the chances for socketing have been made official now. thx for the links to the guy below me :) 11.02.2013 - 11.02.2017: four year PoE anniversary! 1 socket: 32.68%
2 sockets: 29.41% 3 sockets: 26.14% 4 sockets: 9.80% 5 sockets: 1.63% 6 sockets: 0.33% Those 350 jewelers for 6 sockets are worth it imo. 0,33% chance equals about 303 jewelers if my maths is not totally wrong. But as many people have posted you have to be ready for those unlucky streaks. So unless you have a ton of those orbs i'd go for the master every time.
