How much? Offer

The douche is the guy starting with "Hey, how much for xxx ?" imo. I hate that so much that I ended up putting b/o's for every items now even though I hate that... I always start the trade with an offer. Prices are not set in stone. If I put a 8c b/o on an item, someone who wants to pay 5 most likely won't whisper me, because I want 8c right ? But I would have probably sold it for 5c too after discussion. And if I don't put b/o's on my items, I don't sell shit, because that's how people want it. Because people want set prices, set b/o's, no bartering (oh but they don't want an AH).

@Morgoth

Add three more letters to make it known prices are negotiable: obo

I have purchased from players that list an item as 10c obo, and most
of the time I pay the price, or if the item is out of my budget, I
will whisper them "Hey, I can go 8c for that if you cant sell it for 10c".

I'm just thankful rl stores have buyouts, or shopping would be a bitch:

Me: How much for that milk?
Clerk: Offer
Me: How much for this cat food?
Clerk: Offer
Me: ...

lol

EDIT: You do make a valid point, a seller could lose potential sales
by listing a hard b/o when he may have sold for a little cheaper but
scared any potential buyers away. Thats why I like "obo".

But I think "obo" tags are not seen on xyz. And people are all about xyz, and they don't even bother checking the actual forum thread of the item as xyz provides them the name of the item, the b/o, the verified status, the online status and IGN of the seller, so even with a "obo" tag they won't see it. And if no b/o, no trade. That's sad.

Erm I dont think there's anything wrong by asking what a person wants to offer while you have a price in mind. People do the same thing in real life. You ask it to find out if a buyer is interested in the actual item or just wants it cheap and resell (which was probably you in your example). You can also ask it because the offer might actually be higher than the price you have in mind. It might also be a lot higher if you dont exactly know the value of the item, which can prevent you from getting ripped off.

Either way, [Removed by Support] learn to deal (with it).

Thats if they are online and not afk. Usually items I want ppl arnt there even to offer. This game needs a AH so bad. List - stuff get bid with an "offer" or B/O depending what auction type is selected and seller is always "online"

D3 was ahead of its time. This Byzantine 1990s trade chat sucks bad. If it wernt for poexyz Id just self found.

What do you buyers do when faced with the above scenario? Any tips? Just
stick to buyouts only? I ask, because I have never gone to a store, yard sale, anywhere
and had the seller tell me "offer", so I'm at a loss.

Oh and about that, your country doesnt have websites where people can put stuff on for sale?
I bet you do, and I bet there's all kinds of stuff on there without a set price where you have to make an offer first.

Easy now, I come in peace. I know you don't know me from Adam,
so this could be a lie, but I have never once flipped an item, ever.
I buy gear for my character to use, period.

But the "offer" reply exists because of what you said in your
last two sentences, and more so the second to last I imagine.

Your last sentence is exactly why I, as a buyer, want to know
what the seller wants, because I admitted in my initial post that
I don't always know the exact value of an item. Hell, if something
is only worth 15c, I will gladly pay 30c if I can use it as a huge
upgrade, because I want it now!

and I'm sure you were a perfect gentleman whenever someone gave you an offer you didn't like. You never made them throw darts at a wall until they hit the magic number that you wanted but didn't want to tell them.

Its not any fun to throw offers at somebody who wants more than your willing to pay but won't tell you that. Setting a price on your items gets rid of this from happening, and makes more sense since its your item.

-> U ask for "Agony spiral ring", I have no idea what is that

So you do maps while staying online at XYZ to sell items that you don't even know the stats of anymore and if someone offers < 2- 3ex you say "too low" without knowing what item the player wants?

Spoiler
Pretty sure you just named and shamed yourself there...

Nope. Im not online at xyz, im playing game. U took 2 things from text that u like. I said, in 90% I dont respond at all. And why I should be shamed? Its game mechanics. Same as u flip shavs because ur inv is full. If I dont take it, someone else will ... thats how game works.
If there's no B/O listed and I can't find anything comparable on xyz I usually ask the seller how much they are hoping to get for the item. I might even add '' hey I can't find anything on xyz that's comparable to your item and I don't want to offend with a low offer. '' it works great for me most people give me a price and if it's reasonable I usually pay it or make a counter offer based on the price they gave me and how long their item has been listed for sale.

I also list b/o on all my items but I made sure to add that people should feel free to haggle with me. If someone gives me a low ball offer I politely reply with sorry that offer is too low for me at the moment and I'll usually throw out a counter offer. I've actually sold some items for more than I wanted because I accept currency and gear usually. I take the currency and sell the gear for a fair price and sometimes come out a few exalts ahead.
