A factor of inflation and why the economy is NOT WORKING
I haven't read the whole thread but @ OP.
I really don't see any issue in anything you wrote except the fact you choose to trade to fill your 'upgrade' slot, then repeatedly confirm you are unable to find the drop yourself - which ofcourse is almost impossible if you already have boots you traded for. I suspect you could get by with less than what you imagine. Without going off on a rant, because clearly atleast some people share your concerns, what exactly do you think is wrong with what you talked about? The guy saw some really good potential in those boots; clearly had currency behind them to ensure a positive crafting result (ultimately this has been accumulated via playing the game and trading I suspect - both methods are used by yourself)and then posts them for what he (the seller) deems a reasonable price. Are you annoyed he was able to go from 13 exalt boots to 300+ exalt boots in 1 day? If so, isn't that one of the beauties of this game? You can turn your fortunes around with luck, investment, time etc etc. Thats what ARPGs have always been about. Gear, currency, builds and killing mobs. The trading in this game is optional, not mandatory... as has been stated and proven many times the world over yet it constantly falls on deaf ears. You don't need to investment 3 trillion hours to achieve gear at endgame. You just continue playing hoping it drops. Some players aren't made for ARPG's. They don't like the fact they can't gaurantee what they need will drop (like farming a boss in wow). They want gaurantees when it comes to spending their orbs and can't stand the idea it could all go wrong if they try to craft. And then when they do craft, its T1 mods or GTFO which is so stupid. If you think T1 mods are a necessity, I suggest you look for alternative ways to improve your play and your character. Perhaps you would like a way to not have a rich society in PoE. Some players have amassed huge fortunes because thats what they like to do. Just for try for see and for know -2013!

when the info that certain items would become legacy, some people bought 20-30+ of the top rolls items for cheap....now they are selling them for 20+ ex

The OP is right on. I don't understand why so many people say they don't understand.
I saw this trend starting long ago. There's lots of OK stuff, but anything remotely decent is inflated in value. I'm having a _terrible_ time upgrading gear. I go looking for an item which does not appear to be much of an upgrade, and finding that it will cost 4 or 5 or 6 ex. I've got 4, maybe 5 ex in my stash. Most people I play with are in a similar position, and yet all this shit on xyz is going for multiple ex. That's why I think there is so much RMT. People are paying those prices. And they are in parties with GG gear asking pretty basic questions. A casual player doesn't have that kind of coin. Standard is fucked. The 4-month leagues are not as fucked because the bots and RMT'ers don't have as long to work in them. GGGs biggest fuck-up in this whole game was mirrors and eternals. They're a bunch of smart people, if they didn't see this shit coming, they sure as hell know about it now. So then you start to conjecture. They are happy with mirror'ed items flooding standard ? Well that doesn't bode well for the future of the game... |

Yep.... crafting market has a very high barrier, but once you are in it is highly profitable
#capitalism everyone wants BiS they are BiS for a reason... +1 for standard wipe? hahahahahaha Last edited by AridZephyr#2739 on Jul 18, 2014, 11:16:46 AM

" Thats awesome! I haven't done Atziri at all yet :( It's cool your at that stage and I'm sure you just want to get it done and dusted now. To feel you achieved everything you can with your character. Therefore you want the gear, you can taste the victory, it feels close. Thing is, endgame AA+ gear is crazy in price... in Standard league, the prices are so very high. And its simply a time investment thing. With a league that stands still, the normal progression for the economy is for the gap between rich and poor to increase over time - this is exactly whats happened/happening. Its the way it is. Remember, lots of players like aiming up high and there are those who choose not to play the game and simply trade because its their goal. I wish you luck with Uber though!! OK, let me get this straight: someone offers an item way under value. You were hesitant to take the offer, most likely because you did not know its real value. Someone else comes in and buys the item because he realizes it is way underpriced. He then crafts this to a 6*t1 item and offers a mirror service (and a rediciulous buyout that no one will pay anyway, most likely this is just so that the item is listed on poe.xyz).
To me this sounds like an economy that is working very well indeed. There are no signs of serious inflation whatsoever. T1 items are simply approaching their true value (i.e. crafting cost). A craft base with 4 desirable T1 is simply worth as much as crafting it would cost. |

" Or maybe items you want to buy are really worth 5ex and you are just not rich enough to afford them. And imagine it's just product of supply and demand and not because of RMT. People should stop thinking "everyone richer than me is RMTer". It's so easy to do that and it warps your attitude to the game. |

70 ex for what? 370 ex, lololo....??
Just out of curiosity and sorry for slight OT, but I dont follow the trade-sim. How much would these boots be priced, then (dropped as is): Ontopic: thats why RL economies are regulated and monopolies & cartels are shut down. Bad for economy health. Oh, another curiosity: I sold this boots at mid Onsl/Anarchy, for 6ex and a Precinct (iirc) map:
Spoiler
![]() (I was "quitting PoE for good" at the time, else I wouldnt sell them) Today they would cost bazzilions of exulteds...?? Or because it's not everything T1, they would be frowned upon?
