Why do some players lose their passion for PoE ?

D2 was a cakewalk, and no one cared because every build felt powerful.

And this is a core problem I believe behind the Dev's mentality. I'm willing to bet on it.

Anyone that comes into this thread I'd like to ask you this- Would you have more fun mowing down enemies and feeling powerful even if it's easier to achieve or frustratingly grinding for months for a small unrewarding gain?

One of those roads is enjoyable, especially as a hobby that shouldn't eat your time like a second job. The other is PoE's current state. And personally I'd be more eager to jump in everyday if I knew I wasn't going to yell at some point to a 1shot death after several hours of farming with nothing else to show for it.

Don't get me wrong, my cookie cutter 88 on Nemesis feels powerful as hell with 650 hours of pure solo play(not Standard strong, but that league is a mess anyway).

That being said, I don't have another 650 hours to dump into making another char. I have 2 other Nemesis chars, but I really don't have the time, currency, or patience to drop more work into, not to mention the fact that my 88 can still get stronger. Not marginally stronger, but a lot. My 2 hander that I crafted is at 500 dps, but there are still weapons with the potential to hit 900! Even as a die hard 12 hour a day player, having the best gear isn't even a realistic goal, because I farm instead of bot/dupe/RMT.

And that really is the essence of it all.

Drops are not just too low, they are WAAY to low, waaay way way too low. We could probably multiple the drop rate of high end uniques by 4, and double currency drop rates without reaching the equilibrium point between reward and time invested.

I think you guys are onto something...

THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE EASIER.

There, I said it...

In Nemesis, you could quadruple it and I still wouldn't be able to talk my friends into coming back. They all saw how many hours a day I play, and that all I have is 1 level 88 char with 'pretty good' gear(and now my Mara from the 1w race). Even if you can only average 6 hours a day 7 days a week, that's not enough to be end game viable.

My brother in law was putting in about 7-8 hours a day and he thought his char was pretty strong. He did a map with me, and said "fuck this" and hasn't been back. There are literally weapons out there with twice the dps of mine, and the gap between us was still disparaging to him.

At 650 hours I have found 3 Exalted Orbs. If you've ever used a mountain of Exalted Orbs crafting an item, you realize how absolutely shitty the orb really is. For what it does, it should be dropping like candy imo. You could have Exalted dropping like Alchs, and crafting would still be considered a carrot on a stick. The drop rates/crafting need MAJOR reworks, and it's clear with the amount of people complaining and leaving due to these 2 things. Congrats to the 1 guy who gets lucky and defends drop rates/crafting for every 20 guys that are eating the RNG shit pie.

RNG isn't easy or difficult. Crafting isn't either. Bad drop rates aren't difficult, they're just boring. If difficult means boring, then yes, end game PoE is extremely 'difficult'. This is an arpg monster mash. Difficult is playing SC2 on a Korean server.

My worst fear is that we will see GGG come out saying something like:

"Okay guys, we acknowledge that it is too hard to farm i PoE. Therefore, we have boosted the drop rates of high end uniques by 30% and the drop rate of currency items by 20% !!!!!"

Were talking hundreds of percent before we're there, and i don't think they quite understand the feelings growing within the community.

Yet i could see it happen, GGG seem almost exclusive against reforming major game systems, especially if the idea was not their own product. That form of stubborn stupidity will end this game if they do not realize it themselves.

I agree completely with them doing something small like this, but it won't be enough. Not for the die hard players. Players who avoid the end game, and casuals who haven't experienced the fruitless grind yet have no idea what's going. But every day we see more and more players getting to end game grinding, and realize what some of us have been saying since a month into OB.

I'm suggesting that maybe GGG should cut monster HP across the board, thus making the game easier regardless of build. Somebody made a comment about plowing through enemies like D2 and I recalled how much fun I had doing that. I can't do that in POE. I know POE is not D2, but I'm not having any fun with POE and something needs to change.
I play the game as a side game that I take less seriously then the other games I play.

I'm not sure how people think grinding pve 16 hours a day is fun or skill based

I'll log in play a map or two do a bit of trading and log off and I'm perfectly happy with that, I know I'll never have the best gear but it's decent enough for me.

I came here late closed beta, and the atmosphere was good, people were happy devs listened. But since that time i have only felt them growing distinctly away from the community.

It could be the distance between the community and devs due to their inability to fix desync.
It could also be because they have made promises such as pvp being attractive which is can only be when desync is fixed.
It could be that they have promised a new trading system, when in fact the old system of xyz is maybe as good as any solution.

All of these things cause distance, like when you do not talk with your wife in a marriage. You need to talk about things, or you will both grow away from each other.

Sometimes i feel frustrated at myself for wasting so much of my time on forums because it seems it is neither appreciated or cared for. GGG would be wise to draw upon the talents of the community, it's full of crazy people on these forums. We need information and feedback on our feedback or we will never know how to help you, GGG. We do it because we love ARPG's, it would be wise for you to cash in on more of the community efforts.

The problem is not that the game is too hard or too easy, the problem is with idealism. Us wanting to achieve better, seeing how much more there is to achieve and how justified to feel to have what we have given the time and dedication put into playing.
I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.
My guess : Its because this
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
