Bad loot - a response

The 'problem' is with Chris' logic on trading, which makes sense by itself. He believes that trading should require effort, and that that effort should be rewarded for those willing to do it. That makes sense by itself. But when you place that into the context of the game, it creates a system where trading becomes a shortcut for those willing to use it. And for everyone else? Get to grinding, you're going to be there for a while. So your options essentially become, learn how to trade and get good at it or you'll always be watching everyone else run around with all the fancy, shiny objects while you haul another weeks worth of trash to the vendor for shards throw on the alteration pile.

GG, Chris. You defeated your own noble intention with logic that was a little too sound. Anyone playing self found or just not into gaming to become an economics mogul might be able to break into end game by the time you polish off act 7.

You mean 0.05% of the playerbase. But yeah, everyone ...

But GGG wants trading to be the #1 best way of getting gear. Why else crafting & looting sucks so much?

The latest chisel recipe is a perfect example that GGG knows exactly what they are doing. The recipe is primarily meant to boost trade between low lvl players and endgame mappers. Its not meant to aid those who play the loot finding game, else it wouldn’t be so silly & useless for mappers, it's meant to boost trade.

GGG's intentions are just plain obvious - trading is the most important thing in the game and everything will be balanced around it.

Precisely, you people want everything served to you, you want to get top tier uniques in 5 days of playing.

Named: 0

Well, that was easy.
Plus the way to get rich in this is through trading. Waiting on a lottery drop is just not a good idea.

Example I bought 6% ll amulet off the forums (noone was posting in his thread, b/o was set to 1ex someone offered right before me the buyout, i sent the guy a PM and offered 1 ex 20c.

2 days later I decided I needed currency, I had reposted the amulet in a thread because I was selling off my gear, and got 5 ex pure for an amulet I paid 1ex 20c for.

Now that doesnt fix the problem that loot still sucks, 99.8% of all rares are vendor food, the other .2% are not useable for me and may sell for 5-15c.

And uniques well, I won't even start on uniques.

To many random noobs commenting in here too. If you think the "lewt is fine" please link the bullshit your character wears in the new leagues.

Willing to bet 9/10 me and everyone else who has decent gear will get a kick out of the shit you think is good.

Please link what you wear in dom/nemesis (standard doesnt count, you don't have good gear there by now somethings wrong unless you are a completely new player.)

I have some really nice loot, and guess how much of it I found myself?

Hey look! All the anti-social shut-ins in one place, complaining that it's easier to trade for gear that someone else found than to find your own, while refusing to acknowledge that they'll never get every piece of gear they want. Stop forcing them to interact with other players!

Nothing to see here, move on.
Look, man. Video games are hard, okay?

Very true, they do the same thing in sandbox mmos with extensive economies.

You probably got rare jewelry that someone would gladly pay exalts for it, but it seemed like shit to you so you either vendored it or sold for 2 gcp.

Stop centering around uniques, for the sake of rare items.

The moment someone even mentions trash uniques, bla bla... I stop reading.

Wealth is not only in the unique items, people... concentrate.

Oh, so now loot sucks a big one only in the Dom/Nem? At least we're getting somewhere.

No, loot sucks in all leagues, but you can more easily work around it in HC/SC with quantity.

Rings that sell for multi ex, you are funny. Do you have any idea how much ex I made in standard after Anarchy merger? Your league has been open for a year and is inundated with items. I made over 20 ex in standard in 2 days selling shit that no one would buy in Anarchy.

voll's devotion and gifts from above went for 15 chaos max for 3.75 months in anarchy. When we realized how much standard players would sell for them they shot up into the exa range because we knew we'd get 3x or more from your league. The game is not balanced around standard. Try rolling in a league and then come tell me how drops are.

Apprising rare items, especially jewelry is hard but nearly all of my currency has come from alching illv 76-79 bling.
My best so far has been a 1 alch amulet that sold for 32 ex. Most go for 1-4 ex but that is still something.

You will not get as rich as the mirror hoarder but its certainly going to be enough to gear an end game viable character.

As an example guess how much I sold these for

We've all seen so many complains about bad loot, example:

How many rare items has the God of Desync dropped?
Are you telling me that none of the 1000+ rare items was WORTH...

stopped reading as soon as I saw the above word.

you seem to be missing the point, OP.
by a nautical mile.

so let me be as polite and articulate about this as I can. ahem:

I don't give a fucking rat's ass about how much the stuff I drop are "worth".
all I care is my Standard League Marauder has been running around with this hammer
since early fucking April 2013.
and no, I didn't drop that.

in an ARPG, you're supposed to kill shit so shit can drop loot, and that loot should occasionally be an upgrade to at least one of the characters you play.
"drop" and "upgrade" being key words here.
additionally - as a completely optional feature - you can have a crafting system that's actually fucking crafting, and higher chances for stronger shit to drop better loot.

note the absence of the words "trade", "wealth", "worth" and "cost" in this post.
