" Its a stereotype to generalize everyone who is interested in a SFL. Of course SFL would have to come with a better drop rate. Without trading how the hell would anything ever get done? How would you get the skills for your build? How would you ever find decent uniques? How would you be able to craft with fusings and Chromes taking hundreds to get anything done and exalts dropping once every blue moon? Without trading you can only do what YOU FIND. This game is balanced for trading and trading to many people does not feel like playing the game. It feels like D3 all over again for the game to be so built around trading. Increased drop rate does not automatically mean an easier game. There is absolutely nothing easier than trading. I can right now take my currency and go buy whatever I want, how the hell is that supposed to be harder than FINDING everything I need with slightly better drop rates?? Edit: Just to be clear I DO NOT support a Self found league if its straight up easier than the current game. It should be a give take thing where people can switch their focus from trading to actually playing the game, crafting their own gear, and finding their own items. Some people should still want to avoid this league because they think it takes too long to find stuff that they want so they stay over in the current leagues where they can trade until their heart is content. B - would really enjoy the game a lot more if I could find/craft my own gear. Very tedious and takes away valuable game time when I have to sit on forums/in town spamming trade looking for upgrades hours on end

Don't waste development time on it, instead improve the trading system. If you don't want to trade, don't. Last edited by Crevox#7597 on Dec 3, 2013, 12:07:30 PM

" Man, I never said we need self found league because only of maps. I said maps is one of the problems, not the only one. If you want to compare it do diablo 2, i played that game only in single player for 6 years (well 90% of time) and i never found a high rune, but you know what? You did not need it to complete the game and to play end game there. The problem in PoE is to play end game and even higher dif you will need good items, for what you need to farm a lot. In diablo 2 to complete end game you did not need that type of items. Not only that, but in diablo 2 just by playing the game you will get around 10 and more unique and set items before even hell. In PoE if you get 2 unique items before last difficulty you are lucky. Also you can very easy and fast get a lot of good items in very short time with farming in d2 compared to PoE. The only best of the best items you need to farm a lot. So no, you did not need to hack for items to complete d2 and experience the "full game". Now let make one thing clear, I am not talking about best of the best items and that they should drop easy.I am talking about items that you will need to progress in merciless and later for end game, that drop rates for that parts of the game should be better balanced. For that items you would need to farm a lot in PoE, that was not the case in daiblo 2, as the time investing to farm in d2 is much more rewording than in PoE. To your crafting part of the post. The more harder thing they could do to improve it, as there is no more economy, is to make the crafting really crafting, and it means it needs to be more progression based and not be so much luck based, as there is no more need for a currency sink. But as it would need a lot of work just so it works in new league i think they should not do it. The more easier thing they could do is to test it and see what is a good balance of drops so a single person has enough to use for crafting. How much it would need to drop i dont know, for that they would need to test and tweak it, and we as players can help there. Also as I see some people say improve drop rates make the game "easier". The thing is, if you remove the trading in it, it makes the game "harder". But if you improve the drop rates, because you removed the trading, the game in difficulty will actually be same as it is now (if done right). Also the reason I use "" with harder and easier is because, more time that you need to invest in farming and grinding same areas does not make this game or any other game with that mechanic harder, it makes it more time consuming and if done very bad even tedious. |

" Sorry... I thought we determined that the drop rates in and around mapping needed to be changed. Guess I jumped ahead too much. Um... I find my farming very comparable to D2 farming in this game. I play for 2 hours and I drop about the same variety of stuff. Only very rarely do I hit on something big. I understand that you want to keep things vague when changing the drop rates for a self found league. After all you and I don't have any data other than what we and our group of friends have seen drop. Personally I've fallen in love with Descent Champions this racing season. It's definitely a self found league, and you actually get to use the higher level crafting materials. I wouldn't mind it at all if there were a week-long format or perhaps a month race like this. However, after all these posts I'm still strongly against any permanent self found league. |

Only if it's completely separate and has no ladder or anything at all and is a permanent league, just because of how easy it would be.
Could be good for new players, or people that don't have the time to invest, but definitely should not be a competitive league. I would probably even play it for fun because I love loot explosions. " I never played descent races (only played one race in closed beta i think), but I am not that much interesting in races or competition. You can be against perma self league, the problem i have with that is, you personally don't lose anything if there is a league like that. Me and people like me got a lot from it, and as you can see this thread, and a lot of similar threads a lot of people would like to play it. So generally, I must ask you this, what do you personally lose if they implement SF league in future? What is the negative side to it if it is a optional thing? |

" It's difficult to quantify the negative for a SFL. It could very well be done and no one would notice any difference. However, there are a couple of areas that I think it would hurt. 1. Server population: I think that some of the leagues would take a hit. People will argue that those people play self-found anyway, but I would argue that most people at least try to trade a little and support the economy. 2. GGG's work focus: I think it would be asking a lot of them to re-do their drop rates and focus on another league full time. 3. Single Player: This would be a waste of servers for GGG. That means it would be better to create it for single player, however that means that players would get access to the code and make hacking more likely. and actually that's probably it... and it's really not so bad. I guess I might change my stance to indifferent about it. I doubt that I would play because I really like being able to swap gear with my friends, but I suppose it wouldn't kill me to have a SFL implemented. |
