A self-found purist's feedback [Long]
See this is what i mean about GGG ignoring ALL criticism this OP is excellently well written with good feedback from a veteran player who knows the game, yet GGG will completely ignore this like they do all the 100s of other threads.
Now it wouldn't be a problem that they ignore feedback if they didn't make such crazy changes to game with zero warning i mean who really wanted the CWDT nerf or wanted auras to be nerfed as hard as they were, or the back and forth buff/nerf to life and melee and elemental damage and on and on. Its not nerfs thats causes most rage its the total lack of respect for their customers that hurts. "Blue warrior shot the food"

D3 is not the greener pasture for self-found, even with the auction house out of the picture.
D3's items are too one-dimensional, so their tradeability factor is through the roof. This means upgrades will still be easily found through trading even without the auction house (I address PoE's similar issues here). I'm sure blizzard will try to implement some account-bound crafting mechanics to circumvent this, but it won't fix such a core problem within their game. |

" "Under current design, all new Legendary and Set items that drop in Reaper of Souls and once our pre-expansion patch goes live will be Bind on Account. (Right now, you can still trade these items with other players who were in your party when the item dropped for up to two hours, however." Anticipation slowly dissipates...

" No denying that D3 itemization is bad. But judging from the console upgrades, trading is hardly necessary --- to the point that the opposite has become true: getting good gear is maybe too easy. Nobody actually knows how D3X loot 2.0 will work, and I truly hope they can find the sweet spot between "AH/trade or gtfo" and "OP epic loot pinata everywhere" ("everywhere", because I am perfectly OK with "for everyone", btw :) ). Or at least I hope they *try* to find it. Granted, the loot will be streamlined and all, but it's better than nothing. PoE has great potential, but it seems as if trading, parties, cookie-cutter builds, OP gear are simply cutting off the potential. Between enjoying, say, 80-90% content of a good game (hopefully, D3X) and 30-40% of a great game (PoE), I'd choose the good game. Personal choice of course. I simply wonder why I have to make the choice in the first place. Edit: apologies if the post sounds confrontational, not my intention or feeling :) Last edited by skewfields#5600 on Nov 19, 2013, 11:44:29 AM

Account-bound mechanics are one way to address this issue, but Chris has stated he dislikes account-binding.

" That's pretty much the point. He dislikes binding, he dislikes solo, he dislikes no-trade, his number one focus is the economy, he has stated the former and the later plainly. The other two have been made apparent with his comments and actions most recently. So the 'issue' won't ever be addressed, not in PoE. Casually casual.

" JW was a scapegoat for the Actiblizz board who made D3. He did what he was supposed to do, what he wanted to do wasn't allowed. He took the shit as he was supposed to, he left when he was supposed to. He took the money, so he isn't without blame. CW, is the board. Casually casual.

" No point in arguing the choices if that's how things are. His work, his rules; the market is the only judge and I have no doubt PoE will be profitable for a long time. Back to square one, waiting for RoS and new games. Too much free time spent on forums :) |

The problem is, that what was shallow aspect of D2, it means battle.net and ladders it treated by GGG as core of aRPG.
From their point of view, it's probably good business approach, solo player, if achieve his goals, not matter if it will took half or one or two years, will go away, but there will be always bunch of big boys who loves to boast who is better in grind fest or scam on trade chat faster. For me personally, they just should not use name aRPG for this, rather something like "social site with elements of RPG" it would be more close to what it seems GGG would like to achieve. And the best prove is if we see, what Chris sees as "challenges" in temporary leagues. It's not challenging at all, considering state of game, it's pure grind and trade fest. What a challenge, buy 90 uniques... But still, a bunch of players is going for those "challenges". Anticipation slowly dissipates...
