[1.1.0] Spectral Melter (Spectral Throw Crit Shadow )

How does this compare to other spectral throw builds in damage when it comes to maps? I've been thinking of running a crit ST build for awhile because I think crit is going to be the highest scaling damage late-game. Would like to know if that's actually the case!

Also I don't think using a Mana Leech gem is necessary. 2% should be more than enough to hit the mana leech cap, max mana will be limiting how much you can leech, not a lack of mana leech.

If you want the -best- spectral throw build that money can buy. It's energy shield based though, so quite different from the one on this thread. Also, for anyone who doesn't have a 500+ ES energy shield and 300+ ES helmet, they would have to go CI for the extra ES nodes, as opposed to being low-life, which gives about x2 as much damage.

Yes I've seen and read through your entire thread there before biggerboom :P. I only play a couple hours a night tops and have nowhere near enough currency to even start attempting that. I am definitely only interested in life based builds right now as I cannot afford even a normal CI build, nevermind that low-life one.

I keep hearing that ST falls off in maps/late game and was hoping a crit version wouldn't have that problem.

We're kind of in the same boat. I get to play a couple of hours every few days, so my I can't afford anything crazy. That being said, that will most likely be the issue that we run into (specs dropping off in late game). So, my suggestion is to play something you like, and eventually we'll be able to afford to play an effective and efficient end game character.

That all being said, I am really enjoying the character, so even if it does drop off end-game, I'll at least be able to enjoy what I've been doing and hopefully build up currency in the process.
Im new to path of exile any idea how to get spectral throw w/o having scion ?

Buy it, lol.
Nice build. I also play a similar one so wanted to add sum info.

Here is my passive tree (CI with ghost reaver nd vaal pact):

With charisma and influence cluster, I can run 2 auras (hatred+discipline) and still have about 200 free mana, which is enough to spam 6L spectral throw. I dont think grace is necessary and hatred wud be better for overall survivability coz of the freeze on crit.

2% mana leech and about 150 free mana is enough to spam 6l spec throw. For no regen maps, we would need to use mana pots often. But getting mana pots with surgeon mods keeps them always filled since we crit so much.

Whirling blades+faster attacks absolutely essential for moving around nd avoid damage.

Double strike + crit mult + faster attacks + life leech = really good for 1 on 1 fights against the likes of Kole nd other tough bosses.

With Vaal pact, I dont need to worry about reflect.

Following links on spectral throw (I'm only using caracass jack coz its the only 6l es/eva i got):

ST + faster attacks + power charge on crit + inc. crit multiplier + LMP + physical proj attack damage (new gem in the last patch)
For 5L it would be ST + faster attacks + power charge on crit + inc. crit multiplier + LMP (or swap out the power charge on crit if u have a dagger with 9-10% base crit)

For some maps we have to use these (although dream fragments is pretty helpful in all situations for the mana boost mod) :

Doing around 8k damage on ST and 14k on double strike, and my gear is far from godly. Can easily do 10-12k dps with good gear and a mirrored 400+ dps dagger.
Hey. I played this build to level 49 (the and so far it is working out just fine.
I have a few questions though

1: As Nightblade also does above, in the lower right corner, wouldn't it be better to go this way around?

That way you can also gain access to the ranger shield nodes, and I do believe you save a point

2: Is it worth it to take Point Blank? I am not quite sure, but 50% MORE projectile damage is a lot. Of course, at that range I might as well just use Double Strike.

3: Neither you nor Nightblade above takes Discipline aura. Isn't it rather suicidal to go CI and not use Discipline?

4: Cast on Crit. I have experimented a bit with this, and it seems like you need a 6L to really get something out of this, but I just want to say that I think that socketing 4 spells like arc or something like that, together with ST and CoC, could really do some serious damage

5: And on that note: Discharge. I can quite easily build up 8 charges. Has anyone any experience on this? Is discharge worth it?

6: I can't get good drops. What is a fair price for a really good dagger? Like 400+dps dagger.
And what is a fair price for a decent 600+ES chest? (The people in the trade forum don't always have a full understanding of what their loot is actually worth :) )
