Hardcore is not so hardcore?

Oh, it's the monthly bitch about the transition post already ?
If my character dies in hardcore, I delete it immediately.

That is plenty intense to me. Dropping to 10% health at any point is an adrenaline/anxiety inducing experience. Maybe the problem is you.
If anything it's more hardcore. Not only does your character die, you have to then kill it again yourself.
I'd like an option to not resurrect your character to have some kind of graveyard. Or even better to be able to get into game as ghost character that can only stand in encampments (as wraith?). When I died in disconnect in race league I had to create a new character just to chat, it felt unnecessary.

I like transferring of your character but it should not be forced. I play mainly on HC but it depends on how much time I have and what I want to achieve. If I want to test some build and die 1 level before taking a keystone or using a skill, I would gladly go to test it on default. Especially if I'm not willing to play the exact same character again, but still want to see how the build works.

I died in the last 1 week race I haven't logged onto that character since. I know I have the ability to use his gear elsewhere but something about it feels wrong. Using that character just feels like I'm embracing failure. Also leaving him there reminds me of the death so I know what to do for next time.

Like others have said, if you want that character gone take it upon yourself to delete him.
Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th
Finished 18th in Torment/Bloodline 1mo Race - peaked at 9th

Wasn't there a very good thread with very good posts, on why this function is better in PoE, written by some very cool people(devs, mods or old members)?
Sweeping Maid
The devs have explained why this mechanism exists and it's to encourage new players to try out HC. It's also harmless to people who only play HC. The impact is still there on death. It doesn't make it any less fun or scary, with the fact default awaits you with open arms.

Developers put this "transfer" feature for obvious reason, to attract more softcore and those who is on the fence, since they do not lose anything.
From one point we will see more HC "deaths"/transitions in a process of softcore players, maybe it is fun...
But even casual and I presume not so favorable game on this forum like D3 got this right - death is death.
And if POE is made in D2 style why then invent wheel? Just kill him already and make a spirit to use in a chat or something.

Copy to default is harmless.

Those who are dedicated to HC end up deleting all their dead HC characters.

Those who would try out hc a few times and then quit... the rest of us benefit from them.

Exactly. I actually didn't progress in HC for the first 5-7 characters because my Shadow died at level 14 to some random unique monster that 3-shot me, or my other characters died before that. Kept deleting them.

Probably gonna start HC tomorrow again, and do same thing, this time having knowledge I gained playing SC.

This ^

Though I agree it would be nice to have more options upon death than "resurrect".
