I was directed to this a few weeks ago. It's a pretty charming web serial. I figured I might as well reccomend it here. I don't know if it's to anyone's taste here, but I'll try to summarize in a non-spoilerish way...

The story is (right now) approximately umm... hold on, I think it's over 2 million words now? We're past at least 1.5m, so it's crazy long. It updates twice (minimum) a week and will be finishing (allegedly) this Winter, so it's not a bad time to dig in I think. When the story is finished, the author will be going the way of Kickstarter to get physical copies to people, after editing the whole mess.

The story starts off rather simple, well, the premise is familiar at first. Teenage girl gets superpowers. What the story excels at is characterization and diversity, as well as a more mature kind of moral fiber (the protagonist is put in situations where she often must do evil to further her idea of good). I really have no idea how this story is going to end, so that's saying something from me, anyway.

Well, enjoy. It was a fun read for me when I first started, hope it doesn't disappoint those who give it a shot.

Adding new skills is a good use of dev time, but it's a big use of dev time. They overestimated the cost.

What has to understood is that it's not easy to make new skills that have to run perfectly (that is to say, no crashes, no bugs, no exploits, and doesn't cause desync), have good art/effects, are unique, are fun, and work with the various support gems. Plus, it's hard on the alpha realm, as we've gotta try and figure out how to test the stuff and make sure it's not borked. If we find too many issues too late, then that compounds some issues. I think it would be better for them to do 2 skills a month, rather than 4.

The 11.0 notes are posted. As you can tell, the Ranger area was changed, however "revamped" and "from scratch" the changes definitely are not. Ranger has been changed like all the other classes, but the changes don't reflect anything I complained about in this old thread. Arguably, things have gotten worse for the Ranger, due to resists becoming even more scarce and melee damage being relatively weak for the Ranger in comparison to other classes.
