Is begging for items against any rules?
" This is your signature, yes?: "What if I told you, you can post in a constructive, friendly and pleasant manner?" And now you tell us that your whole point in posting this thread was to point out how many of us are "heartless" and "monsters," and to differentiate yourself from "most people in today's world" who "completely lack all understanding of what it means to be a good person." We know what you did, and what you are doing. You're not a victim, and we're not "monsters" for reacting as we did to how you handled yourself throughout this affair. If someone told you to get bent for how you've been behaving, it'd be entirely understandable. Yeah, you get no sympathy from me, and if that makes me a "bad person," in your opinion, well, your opinion means zip. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/

Regarding the better community thing, maybe on the forums, but in the actual game, in fact in any MMO, the community will always be crap.
(b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted.

It's clear that certain people can't accept the fact that people disagree with them (ill use them/their to make this easier on myself). If you really think that there is some objective truth here and you have found it (namely that your idea of what makes the community better, etc), then you're wrong. This is clearly a disagreement on what constitutes a better community and appropriate behavior. Systematically accusing people of misunderstanding your point is not good argumentation.
Responding directly to the substance of their posts, and providing counter-examples or discrediting said posts, is good argumentation. " Go play Alpha server on Astro Empires. Super awesome people playing by self made, mutually agreed upon rules all aimed at having one server where people are relatively civilized. It's pretty cool. |

" If you honestly believe this, then you are ignoring the written word on purpose yourself. The OP asks if BEGGING is against the RULES, - not - if ASKING FOR ITEMS is considered ACCEPTABLE by the community. It's not up to the reader to "guess" what the OP really means or might mean. He hasn't changed the OP to reflect a change in meaning, and he later admits that he never said begging was OK. He just wants to keep on doing it, without being challenged/insulted/taken to task etc. That is a LOOOOONG way away from your own "interpretation" that I quoted above. " Yep, confirmed by his friend, the ultra-reliable Herp-Derp, OP is a beggar. Last edited by DijiGo#2281 on Sep 10, 2013, 7:56:57 AM

I have taken part in may 'give stuff away' threads, given loads of gear to people in game for free but I ONLY gave to people who didn't ask for help. I would never ever give anything to anyone begging for stuff. While I wouldn't insult them for doing so, it does seriously lower my opinion of them. Begging is disgraceful and insulting, I see it as someone valuing their time higher than mine if they think that they should receive stuff without putting the effort in while I had to invest my time to procure them in the first place.

Is begging for items against the rules?
No. I have respect for beggars btw, they opose a mental notion that is considered the standard for over 1000 years. Ask yourself, would you prefer to live outside and live of the generosity of other people and follow the flow of live as it is given to you? Ore would you prefer to live in stability and a fake sense of security given to you by the construction of a social construct? And i am not talking about the beggar begging so he can put another heroine shot in his arm here. I am talking about people like lao tzu. Beggars deserve respect, they are walking a lifestyle YOU are to afraid to thread upon. It is this underlying sense of jealousy that they are doing something you think you are unable to that makes people angry towards them. While the beggar is fully aware, anybody can grasp freedom for himself, it is our human birthright to be placed upon this world and explore it. Love has always been an exponential multiplier of emotions, while hate is the exact opposite. It is within a beggars right to grand you love and joy the moment you give him something. And in doing so, he has payed back what needed not be payed. I for one play this game for love and enjoyment, i enjoy the design, i enjoy the people i play with and meet. And there will not be a day when i become afraid to ask in global chat for hand-outs ore in groups. And if i am able i will pay-up and give currency for the items i receive, if not then i will surely pay-back the item with ingame enjoyment and laughs in chat. And believe me, i have yet to meet the person that has given me something that was not utterly surprised with my personality and my retarded way of progressing in this game. A beggar is richer then somebody going to work every morning, it is from this understanding that he allows people to give him gift's, in this way he spreads luck and joy without lifting a single arm. The moment you come to this realization you will be able to look at the world with different eyes. And understand the misery a Ceo has gotten himself in. When there are no belongings, what is there to lose? When there is no aim, how to achieve disappointment? When people judge you, and you are no longer? How to feel offended? -itheryel- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes Last edited by Boem#2861 on Sep 10, 2013, 8:03:10 AM

" Doesn't this mindset totally oppose games like PoE where you kill stuff to become more powerful and get phat loot? |
![]() |
" maybe ARPGs, which are games where - among other things - you kill stuff to become more powerful and get phat loot. not Path Of Exile. in PoE you trade to become more powerful and get phat loot. killing things is done to win in RNG and get stuff to trade with - at best - or just for the heck of it most of the time.
