" Since real life is short and there has to be 100s of thousands of arpg fans that would like to play PoE if the time requirement wasn't so steep, it doesn't make economic sense for GGG to keep their policy of only making PoE harder. I'm liking PoE much better than D3 or TL2 but the grinding time has gotten to be ... well ... a grind. For all the "no-lifers" that have 8+ hours a day to play, that's great that they can do that. More power to them. Now for the rest of us there needs to be a better way to enjoy PoE on a limited time budget. Chris has stated that the trading be done as a browser trading system and not in-game. That makes complete sense as the servers have limited capacity and having to log in to the game just to trade would max out the servers quick. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."

Why is people confusing grinding with genuine difficulty? PoE is easy as fuck (at least the 'normal' modes), it doesn't require any special twitch skills or something like that, only a decent knowledge of game mechanics.
The gameplay and combat itself is pretty bland, it's not like we are talking about a FPS or a fly sim here, don't be elitist when you don't have reason to, most difficulty is made up around punishing non-super tanky builds and HP stacking via 'shoot-stacking' mechanics without any realistic user input beyond the "don't get into that situation to start with" or via artificial difficult due to technical shortcoming of the game (desync, fps spikes due to subpar optimization and coding compared to industry standards, etc.). What most people is demanding is a non extremely grinding and a no-trade friendly mode; this has nothing to do with difficulty, game is balanced around endgame group play which is extremely dumb and easy. GGG is working with simplistic assumptions regarding their players profile and potential playerbase, and not exploring the more attractive features of their game to attract and retain players (more deep character building and creating different alts instead of focusing on artificially extending the game life with massive grinding per character). Reading some of the Qarl posts about the self-found were just too much :facepalm: with some of the one-dimensional thinking going around and I wish I had the time to explain why in a long post. |

(Standard League == Casual League)?
TY to those who called me out on my BS on these forums. There is no benefit to being so selfish as to fail to acknowledge others' differing beliefs of what "should be" or believe your own opinions so supreme as to be factual and thus dismiss others' opinions as being somehow a lie or delusional.

I dont see the point in splitting characters between leagues etc, will hurt the game.
You want higher drop rates, more realistic crafting probabilities, severely diminished mf etc.. great so do most people, even the non casual people would go play that league cause its more drops, why wouldnt you. Just make a case for what you want in the game, dont think by having it in a different league it would work and thats going to get you what you want without hurting the game, you want to get around the fact that GGG probably dont want add a lot of your suggestions, but this league will not only become 'the game' but in dividing the player base further will hurt the game, youre asking for the worst of both worlds. Make a case for easing the stupid amount of grinding/sinks needed to get anywhere in the normal leagues imo. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Just as it's wrong to dictate what kind of god you should worship it is equally as wrong to dictate that GGG should never have a casual league. GGG has a good thing here and shouldn't be painted into a corner by all of the no-lifers saying that it will ruin this game.
Please, stop with the straw man arguments to try to prove why you are right and everyone less than a no-lifer is wrong. I don't believe that everyone who wants a casual league is expecting crafting orbs to rain down on every drop. No one wanting a casual league is demanding that PoE be a walk in the park. Far from it. Here's a good example. I play about 20 to 25 hours a week so over the 12 weeks of Anarchy that's roughly 240 to 300 total hours played. I finally have a level 69 summoner witch with 8 zombies, 12 skeletons, 1 spectre, firestorm, arc lightning totem, firetraps, and an assortment of curses. I'm at the Sarn Crematorium battle with Piety. I'm getting one-shotted by her lightning with only 8% resist (yes I know it's way too low). I can't get close enough to her to deploy my skeletons in her face and firestorm her, and the lightning arc totem is also being one-shotted by her. After 6 failed attempts she is still at 100% health. At this point in playing PoE the "fun factor" is fading very fast. A casual league where the difficulty factor isn't always over the top maximum hard is what many players would like to see. And no, this is not to be a discussion on my inability to gear up better or get more resists. A casual league does not mean that everyone will bail on the other leagues and only play it. If that were the case then why would the no-lifers keep saying they want more difficulty, not less? A casual league will not mean that we can compare our progress equally with a hardcore league. Just as the hardcore crowd currently snubs standard league and calls it "softcore" or "scrubcore", a casual league will also be viewed by the hardcore crowd as inferior. But so what? Let GGG make a league that is slightly easier to get to the endgame maps for the masses that don't want to grind so much. The hardcore players can still play hardcore as usual and those of us that don't want the maximum difficulty can play the casual league. It's a win-win and probably a financial win for GGG too as more first time players will come on-board and give PoE a try which should translate into an increase in micro-transactions. When was the last time you played any single player game that did not give you a choice to set your level of difficulty? Probably never. That's all we're asking GGG to do with PoE. Create new permanent leagues to give us (you know, the players who make micro-transaction purchases) more ways to play PoE (casual, standard, hardcore, extreme, SFL, etc.). That's all we're wanting. Not to destroy the core play of PoE or create a "whimseyshire" arpg. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
