hmm... I found it, but can't seem to find any video or SS of this in action.

If you found the one I had, I can vouch for it because I used it personally for about a week or so before I got distracted by raiding with my WoW guild again and quite playing. It SEEMED fine.

More or less hoping to find a vid or SS to see what it looks like. I don't have d2 installed anymore or I would just give it a shot myself.

Google "diablo 2 widescreen", Images.

The patch makes the game unplayable online.

I also wanted to chime in to agree with the OP. Endgame mapping is just too luck-based and tedious (tedious in the sense that since I solo a lot I end up running the Docks to find more maps when I run out) for me. And since I only play solo or with real-life friends when they are on, I REALLY get the shaft. I think the best solution is number 6 in the original post.

Allow me to purchase exp maps from the vendor that give 0% IIQ. I think this is an elegant solution. It would allow me to run maps closer to my level, and even though it would have an impact on the economy, let's face it - you really don't see too many people selling maps or 75+ ilvl whites all that much. Not enough to justify shafting a huge majority of players and locking them out of proper progression.

To give some background, I just recently hit 79 the other day... was 78 weeks ago and 70 probably 2 months ago. The game has turned into such a slog that I either play alts or other games now mostly, no joke. And I LOVE PoE, I just don't love the endgame wall that you hit when you try to get into 70+ mapping. I've been blowing a fair chunk of currency on my 68-69 maps trying to get into the 70s, but when you run with only one other player, the chances of actually getting into proper content is just abysmal.

TL;DR: Give those of us who crave experience the option to buy altered maps that drop less or maybe even no items. I'd totally run 75+ maps for experience if I could even get my hands on one. Running 66-69 maps and the Docks at 79 is honestly not fun anymore.

If I could get just one thing through to GGG via my feedback, it would be this. I am glad to see a few people agree with me.

We aren't asking for freebies, we don't want an easier game. We just want access to all the game has to offer.

Added something to my OP. Basically asking GGG if this is their intended endgame. Meaning is it supposed to be extremely hard and luck based to continue up the map chain. If there were to come out and say "well... yea that is exactly the point of our endgame design" then I will feel a lot better knowing. For now, not knowing if my feedback has fallen on deaf ears or if it has been agreed with to some extent is driving me even more insane than I already am.

lol.

Bumping you for this question :)

BTW, my feeling is that the answer is a big YES.

Well... Sadly the answer to this question has been found, and it is not the one I was hoping to hear. Of fucking course it came from reddit.

I thought about how to answer this for quite some time. The short answer is that in our substantial testing, the game is a lot more fun when the highest areas are not always constantly playable. When it's easy to get to the highest itemlevel/experience area and sit there for ages, it doesn't take long for an ARPG to become boring.
We WILL have other end-game options in the future, I promise. I'm sorry they're not here yet. Thanks for your feedback and support!

This quote is taken from reddit. The quote is from none other than Mr. Chris Wilson about halfway down the page.

I am pretty bummed at this being pointed out to me, but I felt it necessary to post it here for anyone who was wondering. And ofc, for those like me that look to this site instead of fucking facebook, twitter, and reddit for info on this game.

I will update the OP for anyone reading it for the first time =(

Sorry you got disappointed, man. But yeah. Told you so, what else can I say. Such big, important decisions, they are hardly ever mistakes or unpredicted consequences.

And thanks a lot for reposting this. I only visit the forums, I hate social media and don't even have a Twitter or FB. I have a Reddit account but never used it and never intend to, the site looks like crap. I love forums and their structure though...

BTW, it is quite sad GGG continues to debate and clarify such important issues on social media, when there are so many topics in their topics crying for a small clarification on this very issue. It seems to me they think with their wallet here, the social media has the potential to bring them more players.

They should also focus on keeping what they already have, IMO...

We should make a community compilation of questions that have been asked both here and on reddit, but only answered on reddit.

Also, that claim that it's more fun when you can't access the higher areas reeks of being flat out false. If you gave map runners the option of having infinite 77 maps, every single one of them would take the offer immediately.

They should just take the map machine and make it a MoC roller.
Press button, machine spits out list of mods, a level from 66 to 77 is generated based on the difficulty of the mods. Don't like the mods? Press the button again.

The included tilesets should be only Maelstrom of Chaos tilesets, and maps tilesets that are unique and not repeats of previous content.

This gives very direct risk:reward. Instead of arbitrary items determining how much EXP and what type of items you can get, the difficulty does.

The machine would retain the slots, and the only maps that can drop would be the uniques.

So simple, yet so perfect.

I completely agree with both of you. I can't fathom why I had to create this thread when the very question I wanted to know was answered a month ago on some other site that I would never have thought to check. Even worse yet, the people that viewed this thread never even mentioned that chris quote which leads me to believe that lots of players aren't even sure where to find information about this games design.

As for that claim about it becoming to boring to quickly with access to the highest areas, I also disagree. I am bored being stuck where I am. I have been spending the last couple of days searching for a new game. I can't tell GGG what to do, but this thread has been up for several days and it is not even the first of its kind, yet they post answers to all our questions on other sites. It makes no sense to me.

I don't know. Just finding this out today has done enough to put me in a less than optimal mood. I should prob refrain from making to many posts tonight, as they will most likely be fueled by frustration and anger.
