" Heh, someone said earlier that today's game developers are afraid to take risks. If what we are discussing is in fact, truth, hats off to GGG for taking that risk. DISCLAIMER! " I'm pretty patient as well; I just run my mouth a lot at perceived issues, even if in reality they don't piss me off too badly (yet); thus the frequency of my "whiny" posts on these forums. The only reason why I'm not burned out on this game yet is that I have serious issues with making alts, and I do it backwards compared to most people. I don't have a main character that I go balls to the wall with, and try to max out, and THEN roll alts; instead I go through half a dozen alts before settling on a main character, which I've finally done. I'm completely burned out running through the acts over and over, and am really ready to slog into maps big time, but with all these complaints about getting shafted by only ever getting level 66 or so maps, and how maps are a massive currency black hole, etc, I'm getting spooked before even getting there. =/ Alteration Orb Union Local #7

I am the same way. I created around 10 chars that reached average level of 50 before settling on my mara, which I consider now to be my main. It takes me time to adjust to a new game and to find the play style best suited for me.

I wonder if we have stumbled upon the reason why GGG favors social media sites rather than their own forums. If they are indeed targeting those players we established earlier, perhaps GGG feels these forums contain little to none of those types of players, and feels that their time is better spent elsewhere.
Or I am just being a tinfoil hat butthurt D-bag -_- Either way... food for thought. DISCLAIMER!

Obsidus:
If not for the map system, there would be something like 75% less QQ in these forums :)) The maps exacerbate any of the game's issues. But you should definitely try running them. You will have fun with 66-69s for quite a while :) The fun will probably stop when you realise that instead of alterations, the time has come to use chaos orbs :P Then , even with chaos orbs, and chisels... and crap... you'll get relegated to 66s zone. An then you will get PISSED OFF, royally. But who knows, maybe you get lucky. Maybe you get a mirror to drop :) Or maybe you have lots of luck with higher level map drops. " Hahaha, yeah. I remember being this way even back in the day with games like Final Fantasy. Played the game all the way through up to Chaos, and then said fuck it and started a new game, just because I have some sort of odd OCD when it comes to trying out different classes and class combinations. It's why games like this and Final Fantasy Tactics, and MMOs, are so addicting to me. Anyhow.. Alteration Orb Union Local #7

" Agreed. It will take some time before you get frustrated with mapping. And even then, depending on your luck and or goals, you may never get frustrated. You may be one of those that can sustain high level maps. It is VERY possible. I know a few players on my friends list that do it daily. You may also be perfectly happy in the lower tier of maps too. " It very well could be. Look at Anet with their whole drive to get GW2 to be an e-sport similar to LoL; for some reason I get the distinct impression that those self styled sort of "pro-gamer" wannabes are much more likely to use Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc, rather than kick around on the official forums; which would explain why Anet spends so much time doing interviews and communicating via twitter and Reddit. Same thing with WoW; all the "good" players were either on Arena Junkies or Elitist Jerks, and the official forums were considered a trash heap. I really wouldn't be surprised if these forums weren't really all that big of a part of their game plan. Alteration Orb Union Local #7

Even if you can sustain maps, sustainability isn't the only issue with them.
