The worst part for me personally is... I put so much effort into my original post. I don't usually do that. I felt that I had a stake in this game, that it was my job to represent the unlucky players. And to find out GGG had already addressed this issue long before I had created this feedback makes it feel like such a waste of time and effort.
Live and learn I suppose. Anything I can think of has already long been thought of and addressed. Just another insignificant player here. DISCLAIMER! We are the minority. For every hate/dislike thread, there are thousands of satisfied players who have yet to reach a point of frustration.

" 100% agree. I would never, ever return to lower level content if given access to high level maps. There's nothing to do in Lunaris, Docks etc. for me - NOTHING. I really don't know what to make of that "extensive testing" (lol) thing... I think Chris just smartly thinks with the wallet here and tries to give PoE the classic MMO "carrot on the stick"/treadmill features without people actually feeling that. GGG needs this to make money over time, and they have a loooong term plan. Anyway, there are people that are happy with the current design, so... From what I see what it takes is: - a lot of endurance - a gambling affinity - a high resistance at failure - lots of time to burn, so you can statistically turn RNG into working for you from time to time - a stream with lots of viewers helps... If you have all these things, and you're prepared to slog through whatever fails and desyncs and RNG mishaps PoE will throw at you, you might get to enjoy the game for a little while from time to time, when you roll a Kaom, find a mirror etc. The bad thing, is that the guys that fit into this category are an exception... placeholder for creative sig

" GGG is in deep shit then, because people like you are what I feel are the target, core audience for this game; NOT hardcore as fuck people like Kripp. Many other people are going to get burned out a hell of a lot faster, and GGG may find themselves abandoned by many aside from the people who no life the shit out of the game and don't care. They really need to add to the manifesto, and start posting on these fucking forums, or else they're hamstringing themselves in my opinion. Alteration Orb Union Local #7

" I fit in that category, minus the stream, and even i'm sick of the game due to some of the poor design. Especially the gambling affinity one when it comes to games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y98hTotg2RM&hd=1 If those had failed and broken, i would have been out of a pair of swords that i eventually sold for $500. " It is highly likely these are the definition of the "hardcore" players that GGG intents to build a game for. I don't mean that as an insult, just an observation. In any case, I have proven that it isn't something I can endure. I am extremely bored trying and failing to access the higher level maps. DISCLAIMER!

" I really do wonder what GGG definition of hardcore really is, because I see it as not only being subjective, but relative. Back in the early 2000's, I was heavily addicted to Everquest; and let me tell you that game was hardcore as fuck, and required you to tolerate a lot of abusive and shitty designs, plus MASSIVE time sinks. Then WoW came along, and became the new norm, but with it's own "hardcore" players. By the very different natures of the two games, I can tell you that ten times out of ten, a hardcore Everquest player was far more hardcore than a hardcore WoW player. Even if they both played 12 hours a day, Everquest by its design required more from it's players than WoW does. So on my view, many of us would probably qualify as hardcore players of this game by many peoples standards, but GGG very likely might not consider anyone short of a Kripparian to be hardcore. If that's their definition of hardcore, and that's the sort of player their catering to, then I wish them luck on their ten year plan, because they're gonna need it; and if people as extreme as Kripp AREN'T representative of the metric GGG uses to gauge "hardcoreness", then they're seriously out of touch currently and need to get their shit together. I have myself a lot of endurance, and failure tolerance, and sometimes time to burn. What I don't have is gambling affinity and tolerance for pure RNG like in PoE. Reward me properly, based on how I do in the game, and I'm happy. If I'm crap, give me crap. If I'm good, and kill mobs righteously, don't fucking reward me with RNG, lol. Makes me angry :P
Nah, I'm actually a VERY calm guy. Need to see politicians, wars and "modern" "civilisation" to get angry... games can't do that to me. And yup, that category in my previous post - might just be their intended target. It's a niche inside a niche though. Very big risk GGG is taking if this is indeed the case. placeholder for creative sig Last edited by Undon3#5633 on Apr 28, 2013, 12:56:01 AM

Agreed. Hardcore is in the eye of the beholder. I never considered myself a casual, but the definitions that undon3 listed would indeed prevent me from attaining hardcore status.
