Would you want PoE 2?
I remember few years ago there were many issues. Now I don't see that much. So it depends on what they want to do. I still think graphics look decent.

" Ain't nobody got time fo' dat. Regarding the engine he is neither trolling ot clueless. He's the cofounder of a multimillion dollar company that has done nothing but have great success continously since 2013. Excuse me if his words weigh hevier than yours but you actually made no solid point while he explained in detail regarding the engine and why issues exists in POE. "GtA 1'S EngInE aLLowS foR hiGhER SkIlL ChEcK tHAn POe" - GTFO. Go play GTA1. POE uses their own created engine and, as someone celarly more intelligent tahn you are pointed out, they can continously upgrade it. They are actually doing just that (if you watched the video you would know) for the past few years. Good job on assuming I did not play any other "modern" ARPG's. I played every single one showing any kind of potential and they mostly sent me back to POE. They either have the same issues and far less contant or they have way more issues and less content. The absolute only one that may be able to compete (not really) is Lost ARK. I played it to try it out: I maxed out and got 335 ilvl and tried most stuff in the game. My account got deleted however due to "not allowed to play outside Korea". It's a good game however I feel it will never actualy compete with PoE. Different target audience imo. They call it a ARPG MMO but it's more the other way around: daily quests, time gated events, endless MMO grind. The game also suffers from severe server lag and NO IT WAS NOT only my VPN. The issues is present in Korea as well. Try going in thos hell gates and you will not see anything on the screen because of 30 ppl. Massive desync and people chain dieing and runnig back zerging the boss ignoring all mechanics. Bullshit game for alot of people just because of that. I am playing ARPG's for over 20 years. I played Diablo on release day and that game set the tone for all new ones to come as it was revolutionary. The one only time I had the same feeling I had as I started up Diablo was with POE. I still play both game and D2. They are the only 3 ARPG's still worth playing from time to time. The rest are just sad reskins you play once or twice. I have been around long enough to have a more than decent idea of what will work and what not. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."

Wraeclast is merely a continent, which means it exists in a larger world. I don't even think we've really seen that much of Wraeclast, judging by the map.
Something to simmer on: What if there are even stranger things going on in this big world? Yes, would like. But not til it's ready.
I think the new meta is everyone bitching about the new league.
"That's good, but please stop being such a blind PoE fan boy, and start to agree with people like me (I also play RPGs since the 90s) and others in this thread who explain you why PoE engine is outdated. And when I say PoE engine creates a skill cap I DO mean it. If you can not understand it, you are either blind or inexperienced player. |

" Any engine has a skill cap. ANY. If you want to have a higher skill cap or a higher difficulty game go play Dark Souls. Most POE players never get to kill UBER anything. Hell I bet most never kill Shaper. So the skill cap is just fine. I don't ghet what exactly you want to make the game more skill based than it is right now. In the end it's as Grinding Gear Game (pun intended). Why would I agree with you when YOU say the engine is outdated. You are by no means any recognized authority in the subject. At this point it your word against Jonathan's and he clearly has more experiuence with said engine. It's like this: these devs have not dissapointed me since 2013. Yes I may not have likes every single thing they did BUT you can never like everything. Others likes what I did not. On that premise I will trust him when he said their engine is good and that they can continue to improve it. It's their own property so they have free hand to do it. Hell I would keep it just out of sense of pride instead of going the lame way and take some Unreal engine and skin my game on it. All these people "expalining" why POE engine is bad are by no means an authority and life has tought me people are sheep and copy paste stuff without actually understanding it. You will say I do the same: false. I choose to believe the person who had a huge role in creating it because he most defenetly knows better than any of you people. All you have is personal opinions while he has clear facts and knowledge. None of you have access to that engine to make an actual assesment. So what I'm saying is that you are actually talking out of thin air. Hating for the sole purpose of hating. In any case. The podcast clearly showed their plan at lest up until 4.0 and he even mentioned stuff that implied they are preping THIS GAME for a durability of up to 10 years. When have you knows GGG to care to crying? Never. may as well quit while you are ahead and in Jonathan's words: "deal with it". PS The lame attempt at calling me a noob with nice words makes for shitty argumentation. In any case playing since 2013, 5 k hours on steam alone, all classes and ascendancies plyed and full end game experinced sais otherwhise. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience." Last edited by Bone2flesh#0416 on Nov 22, 2018, 8:24:18 AM

"One don't need to look at the code to have access to the engine. Playing/observing the game grants enough information to comment on the engine. PoE has a 2D engine (same as D2/GTA) with almost none physics. A 3D engine raises the skill cap significantly since it allows for: - Physics like those of the real world - More ways for the player to interact with the world and the AI - Precise object/character placement - Precise skill/spell interactions - More advanced AI PoE has currently two big flaws: - The crap engine - No solution to account sharing These two stop the game to make the step to a top competitive game like LoL/DotA/SC. And don't say I hate the game - I love all aRPGs and I want the best for them, I am simply not wearing any pink glasses. |

" I laughed hard at this one. Thanks. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" One does need to look at the code to know the potential of the current engine. In any case your conclussions are done with incomplete information based on assumptions. POE has never had the itention or interest to compete with the games you mentioned. Ever. Never ever has any dev from GGG mentioned those games in a comparison to POE because it's just a stupid comparison. You are comparing it to MOBA's and RTS. WTF bro? You love all ARPG's but you compare them with games that are anything but ARPG's. There are only a handfull of titles you can even compare it with and POE already beats them all: - Grim Dawn - great game but POE is clearly more successfull. - Titan Quest - Great revived title with new expansion BUT sadly not even close in quality and gameplay. - D3 - Do I even need to say anything? Check the new "season" and compare to POE new league. - D4 - will there ever be 1? - Wolcen - Eternally in early access with no guarantee it will ever be released. - Lost Ark - currently Korea only with no news when it will come to the west. It's also a poor comparison as it is an MMO skinned to look as an ARPG. - D Immortal - Do YoU nOt HavE PhoNEs? (put it in here aas a joke) I played all of them and the 3D engine in Wolcen for instance is simply meh. Nothing revolutionary in terms of gameplay. It plays the same as POE with a fraction of the content and polish. You keep ranting on about the skill cap but never adressed my point: What if the skill cap made possible by the current engine is actually okay for most players and (as already mentioned) just fine for GGG the way it is? Who are you to say it does need a new engine? If you want real world physics go in a parck and throw stones at trees. Interactions with the world in an ARPG = kill mass hordes of monsters for loot. It's there and it's all it needs. If you want complex gameplay go play an MMO like Lost Ark. Have fun translating Korean all day: made my eyes bleed. The precise object/character placement and skill interactin is being continously improved as Jonathan mentioned IF you actually watch the podcast so I don't have to spell out things for you constantly. All in all I get it you just want a 3D engine. Well it's not going to happen because he clearly said they are very happy with their engine and it's what they want for their game. If you love ARPG's learn to understand some are different than others and trying to change them to make them all "perfect" is just making the pool boring and all the same. Hell I bet most playes who got hooked and stay on POE is because of the 2D similarity they found with classics like D2. In my opinion is actually one of the most attractive features. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."
