I do not see why his point would not be valid?

It is fair to make an assumption that if you can steal, you can as well lie and curse.

If I would tell you that you are free to take any action you want in a game, you'd also assume that you can curse others. If not, then at least more likely than in a game where your actions are restricted.

Don't blindly ignore his idea because he pointed his finger and expressed himself not as adequately as more well spoken players.

Chat channels are there to serve specific purposes and keeping them clean of nonsense is in the best interest of all players , also there is no reason to ever allow people to make personal attacks on others regardless of what other areas of the game are "cutthroat"

You cant be scammed unless you put yourself in a position to be scammed IE you trade to fast and dont make sure the item is what you want , or you pay before completion on a challenge. Its really easy to not be scammed in PoE just dont do either of those two things.

Anyhow we need chat channels to at least be semi policed so that they can serve their function , gen chat for nonsense , 820 global for sharing masters/challenges , trade for trade , 820 trade for selling masters and challenges . If you just let any jackass sit and spam toucan all day in those channels the game wouldn't be functional , in contrast YOU are responsible for not being scammed by not being a dumbass.

Just because they don't make everything 100% anti scam does not mean they condone it. Besides you really want to give those people (Wich are like 1 in 10k people) attention?

Well, there is a difference between "not making everything 100% anti scam" and designing a game that heavily rewards scamming other people, implementing a trade system that encourages scamming and price fixing, and then not giving a fuck when scamming and price fixing are (expectably) rampant.

Scamming isn't even against the terms of service. Also, can you give me any examples where GGG did anything against scamming?

You're interacting with real people in chat. You're "stealing" or "scamming" items that aren't real. Those are not comparable at all.

People who make others feel unwelcome consistently will be asked not to play their game. They even have a label you might see applied to these people from time to time.

...but funny enough, scammers make others feel "unwelcome consistently", and we're forbidden from name & shame (rightfully so on the latter, no argument on that policy). The OP has a point about a bit of hypocrisy here, but there's little we as players can do to change that. Nothing wrong with the OP complaining about it, and please don't tell him he's "welcome not to play their game". That goes without saying, and thus we don't need the passive aggressive assertion you made.

Also, who's "we"? The community? Sorry, you don't speak for anyone but yourself. :-) Better use of "I statements" next time would be helpful to all.

While your statement is true, I am talking about the idea itself and how someone can interpret it as a way of behavior that is acceptable.

On the one hand scamming and stealing is not only tolerated but acceptable and in keeping with their game design.

I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you!

In cases like these we encourage you to contact support@grindinggear.com with your report, along with any evidence you have (screenshots etc.). We do not get involved in trade disputes but will keep an eye on any players that have been reported to us, and take any action we see fit.

Regarding ruining someone's reputation, I recommend you refrain from posting about them on the forums or in ingame chat, as naming and shaming is not something we allow for multiple reasons.

On the other hand you can get banned by saying the wrong thing in chat channels.

Now we are not talking about the forum here, but in game (in Wraeclast).

In keeping with their idea of a cutthroat world surely, naming and shamming and any kind of verbal abuse etc should be acceptable as long as it is in game.

Or is it political correctness gone mad (as usual)? Where calling somebody names is more serious than stealing their belongings.

I am not saying this should be allowed, but then neither should scamming and stealing.

Does this stink of hypocrisy and double standards?

What do you think ?

I think you said something in chat that you wouldn't say in real life adult conversation and enough people reported your vulgarity that you got a time out and rather than learning from the experience you are trying to say what you said wasn't vulgar in the first place. . .

You are interacting with real people when you scam and steal as much as in chat. If you cant understand that maybe you need to engage your brain a bit more before commenting.
