I don't think almost anyone cares if they go to "hell" because you define scam differently. I've never scammed anyone but I don't see why I should even care if I do, it's allowed in the environment.

I don't understand GGG's attitude on the cutthroat world of Wraeclast.

On the one hand scamming and stealing is not only tolerated but acceptable and in keeping with their game design.

On the other hand you can get banned by saying the wrong thing in chat channels.

Now we are not talking about the forum here, but in game (in Wraeclast).

In keeping with their idea of a cutthroat world surely, naming and shamming and any kind of verbal abuse etc should be acceptable as long as it is in game.

Or is it political correctness gone mad (as usual)? Where calling somebody names is more serious than stealing their belongings.

I am not saying this should be allowed, but then neither should scamming and stealing.

Does this stink of hypocrisy and double standards?

What do you think ?

Regardless of what we may think and feel about it, it's most certainly not "hypocrisy" or having "double standards".

One is cheating in an in-game "business" transaction, the other is being an obnoxious turd in a public space.

These really aren't similar. I'm not saying wich is worse here (I'm honestly not in a position to), I'm saying they are distinctly different forms of bad player behaviour.

What GGG has isn't double standards to the same problem, but different standards to different problems. We can call it being silly but we can't call it hypocricy just because they're ok with apples but draws a line at oranges.

Depends on how YOU define scamming, most of the qq i've seen about it are not scams and as such GGG should no be dealing with your mess.

IF however it is a legit scam you CAN report the person, though over all GGG need to take into account that it may have been accidental (a DC or misclick or any other reason)
You should ALWAYS report a scam to support, it won't get your stuff back but it dose count towards a profile on the person scamming and there IS a tipping point where they will get banned.

As for getting banned from the game by using chat? that is actually in most cases impossible, the only exceptions i know of being posting links to porn sites, even if they are fake and/or heavy sexual references, which is something GGG need to do considering there are laws which require them to protect possible minors....other than that you just get muted.

These rules are straight forward, there is no double standard and if you fall foul of them, well to bad for you.

If it's not in the tos it's bull manure.

What they basically do is let people run rampant alienating potential paying customers and then ban some poor smuch who thought he was all that once in a blue moon.

The real scammers have account names changed and move on with ggg providing a solid defense for their actions.

There's no such thing as scammer bans. There is however a hotline you can call after crossing enough people over th get a fresh start. It's support@grindinggear.com.

It's understandable they will not interfere on every single 'scam'. If someone persists in making other players lifes miserable they will ban people, that's all. So every 'they want you to scam' line in this topic is bullshit.

It's really wierd yeah , not to mention the IGN interview ( Joshua Mobley and Chris Wilson )

in which the GGG lead said :

" So there are microtransactions that are entirely cosmetics "

speaking of double standards that is .
