Small vocal minority?
Eh the only problem I have with the lab is dc rips.
Happened to me once last league, felt really unjustified. Losing a hc character when it's completely out of your hands is rough. As long as they can get on top of that, I'm fine with the lab. |

More like large vocal minority. As in, large and vocal enough to be a real problem.
I gotta agree on Regulator on one thing: Labirynth was released unpolished. Too many traps are too similar, too many do %-based damage, and this makes the "anti-trap" stats far too binary and polarizing. Plus having three types of blade traps isn't good for variety. This stuff should have been caught in Alpha and probably delayed. That said, I really like traps as a concept and think there's a lot of untapped design space in them. I'm not of the "encounter problem? Throw it all away!" mindset which I think Regulator at least comes close to. Still, the point is that it isn't a small minority, and regardless of the solution a developer's "A game" must be brought. Does GGG need to do what this vocal minority says to do? Absolutely not (and they absolutely don't need to do what Regulator says). But they do need to do something which makes the vocal minority a lot less vocal, perhaps removing discontent in a way no one here imagines. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. I've made my view clear on lab and my opinion of it hasn't changed a bit.
This is the game [PoE] I currently play for enjoyment and relaxation/fun/etc.. When GGG introduced the Lab I was really looking forward to playing it. However, that swiftly changed. Traps !!! ?? WTF are traps doing in PoE? All my guild friends were like, "Oh boy, new content" until they actually tried lab. Then it was like: "OMG, wtf are all those stupid traps doing in this game?" Most of them left to play different games. Are we the vocal minority? I don't believe that at all. How many players would run lab if the ascendancy points were not locked behind it? Be honest. How many players run merc Malachai just for loot? Most players prefer maps to Mal or Lab. I believe that we are *not* the vocal minority re Labyrinth. Lab is boring and crazy. GGG won't come out and admit this though, they would "lose face" and have to back down on Lab. This post of mine will no doubt attract the git gud and white knight types who supposedly love Lab, I expect that. But Lab does not belong in PoE. Top Streamers are usually a good indicator of what is "popular" and "meta". Look at how many are currently streaming Lab...........none. Whether you personally find Lab hard or easy is totally beside the point. GGG made a mistake including it in PoE, it's boring as batshit and has no place in an arpg game. If I wanted to play a trap game I would go play frogger or super mario or something. The worst part of all this is that the Lab will continue with the new "Prophecy" league.... With points locked behind it....again. |

I love the diversity of play that the lab brings. It takes a while and kills me all the time, but I still enjoy it.

I love running through the Lab. Traps are necessary for running to be exciting. It shouldn't be same like I'm just passing through relatively vacant rooms in normal dungeons that could happen often in a long term.
I prefer to have some more straight and longer corridors with traps than tiny rooms with backtracks, corners, gates, and dead-ends everywhere (scenes in PoE are too flat. it's like I hate Whirling Blade or the sites that force me to scroll up and down all the time) but that might be relating to level designer, random level generator or the game performance issues, idk. The difficulty of Lab is fine in general I guess and I think that's not the issue here. I mean it's fine if it's fun grinding. i completely hate the lab. it's disgusting
- puzzles are terribly easy and stupid - monsters are trash and just there to refill your flasks after you almost died on a trap - izaro fight is hard as fuck if your build has little single target dps - if you die you are forced to go all the way back and do the same annoying shit again the most important thing you want to do is to complete your character, which means that as soon as u are allowed t oenter the lab, you'll try to get your points, but that will go very bad because your clearly need more levels to do it without risks how many hardcore players ripped to that shit? ps: why vaal skills can't be used for izaro's fight???????????????? so my proposals: - allow vaal skills to be used in the izaro's fight - allow character to go back only to the last izaro's fight (or start) as a checkpoint instead of always at the start (heck, you are going to do it anyway sooner or later, it's not like it's harder the next time) - make traps and puzzles actually interesting to do and not so braindead (it just makes it feel like you are walking for a longer way) - make reward chests at the end more appealing with changes like these my lab life would be very much acceptable |

Not the way i would phrase it completely, but i do agree on every point too.
To reiterate: I (we) do not want to see lab removed. I never played uber atziri, and i never will probably. I would never ever suggest that we remove it from the game. Why? Because it is a challenge that some people can take up, and others can enjoy the fruit of their labor for a price. Lab is different, in the fact that if you want that build enabler point you really have to go there and get it. Let lab stay, decouple it from ascendacy points. Nothing but that little thing needs to be changed. Then we can talk about what are the good rewards for running it, and what should be the daily ladder reward. Maybe even specific uniques from a fixed loot table like atziri or something similar. If they said, that from the next league, uber atziri locked away 8 notable passives for each starting class you would experience the shitstorm of a lifetime. TLDR; To hide ascendancy points behind content that the devs consider "divisive" is a mistake. Change the content or decouple the ascendancy points. cheers |
