I don't think the economy hates you, jK, but yea, trading does involve quite a bit of being online and available at the right time. If you want to get the white 6L (other than by Elreon/Vorici discounts as stated by Boem and I) perhaps you could see if you have any legacies that you feel that you won't use, and sell them? They should fetch a pretty sum now.

Out of curiousity, what's your accepted timeframe for "completing a build" through acquisition of the 6L, after getting the 5L?

This is why I plan my builds around 4L items.

Get a 5L? Slap an IIR in there. Get a 6L? Slap an IIQ in there if it exists, or add some cheap dps (mana-wise) for gravy if it doesn't.

No pain. No sorrow. No sadness. And much more loot!

Have faith man, I have had horrible luck the past couple leagues with even getting a 5 link, bought a 6 link staff during rampage for 10 ex worth of random orbs/gems/maps but aside from that, no luck at all. Then, one magical day, about an hour prior to the 1.3 drop I decided to take the 30 some odd fuses I had in my stash(new leagues, wasn't gonna be playing standard anyway) go for a 6link on my 6s5l Coil. 7 fuses later BAM achievement complete, 6 link. It takes, patience, luck, and the RNG gods to be on your side.

It just shows how bad itemization in PoE is... Mid gear costs ex but upgrade from mid gear to end gear costs THOUSANDS of exalts. There was a time before eternals when high tier gear was worth something. Now its only mid -> mirror worthy

The build proved to exceed my expectations.
Defence is lacking, but in a SC glass cannon build which pretty much 5-shot Merc Vaal Oversoul, and successfuly ran a 66 Dried Lake map at level 61 - that's secondary, tbh.

Which makes me think what kinds of new forms of insanity it could reach, if I could actually link 6 gems instead of 5.
And get frustrated yet again, this is blocked by ecomony, wild RNG, and absolutely mindless grind for an ungodly amount, to supplement both.
