socket connections and economy woes: replacing a Tabula Rasa

I'll ask again: How long, in your opinion, should the upgrade from 5L to 6L take, considering your example of a hypothetical boss dropping "Fusing Fragments" of some sort based on difficulty being awarded (Doomsday Dominus example, for instance)?

I'm asking because you specifically stated that 6L is for build completion.

Well, not free...

It will cost you... YOUR SOUL!

Over 11 pages and he repeated the same thing over and over. "too much economuh game, not enough risk being rewarded bleh", yea, poor guy, playing the wrong game i guess as this is a economy aka trading based arpg, its designed that way by GGG as their main vision the same as their 10 act plan.

And selling your soul for a 6L is a good deal, considering that you cant 6L a soul anyways, so what good is it.^^

Spoiler
Given that the tabula was a bit of a joke item when it was included back in CB with the intention of providing a feasible way to test 6L (even 5L setups are expensive to test if you change gem colors) setups, and that its current use is mainly levelling has contributed to make the Tabula Rasa a bit of a noob trap.

Well, that and the fact that its not really that great for melee early game, i partied with people wearing it, and you could tell it wasnt just a tabula skin because they died faster than if they wore an actual armor so it was actually the damn white t shirt. Is lulzy though when you see em run in and hit once or twice before they drop and ask for a TP.

I think it really is better somewhere midgame where people have some items to survive with, so theyre not so chest reliant. It really is a nice testing item though, i wanna try it out someday, i just never find any 6L combo i like.

@Xavderion, I appreciate the serious response.

Implementing risk/reward is indeed very case-sensitive, and is anything but easy, as I mentioned countless times before. especially in a game as complex as Path Of Exile.
but every journey begins with a step.
and the curios thing is, GGG have already taken that step by thinking of Masters and Atziri.
but then they remembered the "economeh", and took two steps back: Master Crafting with "money" masters don't give you. locking Atziri behind a giant wall of RNG...
every single time, it's 1 step risk/reward and/or progression, 2 steps economy. trade. exchange rates of the "Wraeclast Dollar" in its various supposedly-crafting-material-but-no-one-uses-it-because-RNG-fucks-them-over forms.

I do indeed care about the game and enjoy it, but the fuel behind these threads is a lingering feeling this game can be so much better if only GGG get rid of that damned trade-centered leash, and 2 years of building frustration because they don't.
they are only tightening the leash.

GGG are in a tricky position, they must find a middle ground between trade and no trade. For someone who trades, master crafting was way too overpowered, you could get a close to BiS weapon for a handful of exalts. Once you have such a weapon there is basically no reason to grind on and the trader loses motivation to play. For a non-trader, master crafting was great, he still had to work for it but it was an achievable goal. I personally believe the triple nerf (remove hybrid mod AND make it way harder to roll the top physical mod AND increase the cost of the level 8 (now level 7) mod) was a bit too much, but I understand where GGG is coming from.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Why?

The trade game is a meta-game. It is not part of the ARPG. GGG has no solid basis for an in-game economy (compare to EvE for example). Their choice of crafting materials as pseudo currency shows a desire, to me at least, to make trading a pain in the arse. Nothing in closed beta made trade appealing, took lots of yelling and screaming before they even implemented a trade window. Remember drop trading?

As it exists right now, and evidently has since (maybe before) I left just after Act 3 was added in, the trade meta-game is played using third party web sites, largely with third party tools, a hacked usage of the GGG website in lieu of an API, and opens the barn door for RMT. Not to mention this inter-league trading crap.

Just where and when did GGG decide that the game had to include trade as a dominating factor? To the point where it overrides crafter's desires. I mean, come on, the game has practically zero support for trading built in - how the heck did that translate into nerfing master crafting because it impacted the 'trade game'?

Color me confused!

No theyre not. POE is their vision of a player driven trading based arpg. And while i dont enjoy trading at all im glad they do this the way they want it and not bow to the few that want trading to be gone completely which the OP wants. Maybe some balance between trading and non trading could be done, but the masters are a good sign that GGG will do more in that general direction as well as provide more for traders.

I wasn't here in Closed Beta (started when Open Beta went live), but you say trade was not such a fundamental thing back then?

if so, I too wonder where this desire for "Economy Uber Alles" comes from.

also, I think I would have liked Closed Beta better: same Path Of Exile with (roughly) same giant skill tree, has trade, but not based on trade or balanced around trade.

PoE is FUNDAMENTALLY different than the game you desire. Go play something else, seriously, we're tired of hearing your whining about how this game should change to cater to your wants and needs.

did you post in this thread before?

oh now I see it. something about a bus that's supposed to be a funny story.
and then you made a separate thread to troll this one, in which I only bothered reading half of the OP.

there's a Closed Beta player here, saying this game used to be a heck of a lot closer to what I want, than it is now.
so, FUNDAMENTALLY different and need to play something else, right?
because apparently, what made me start playing this game, is slowly dissipating. and now we actually have someone stepping up and saying "yes, it was there. JK isn't just imagining things".

man you are trying too hard. you should use all that energy to benefit the game, not try (desperately) to drive people from it. people who care about the game at least as much as you do. if you do. huge "if".
