" They design the game around the assumption you're participating in the economy. I don't think that's really up for debate. Yes, you have a choice to play the game in different ways. I played the shit out of Iron Man mode in Diablo. Doesn't mean the game was actively designed in such a way. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/55102/ No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

" D3 died because the itemization sucked and it drops were designed around the AH, not neccessarly because there was a AH. I hope whatever "trade improvements" GGG has in mind comes soon. Closed Beta Member.

" Of course not, otherwise you wouldn't need to pay programmers money because every uneducated bum could do it cheaper. But if we all just gave up because stuff is hard, we'd still be hunting mammoths with stone spears. So your post didn't really help much, I feel. May your maps be bountiful, exile

They clearly design the game based on trading. Don't be so foolish as to claim otherwise. They restrict orb drops to give them value so that people can trade them for items that they want. The only people using them for crafting purposes are players who have enough wealth to trade for orbs that represent 100,000+hours played. Having 6L odds that typically require close to 1000 fusings and then restrict the production of the orb to make you have to trade for them in order to "craft" is part of the design.
For me, these choices simply remove content from the game. I don't value 6L, because it's too distant of a goal. I got one by random drop, and I'll likely see others. But craft one? No. Not even "hope". I stop at 4L. I've yet to even craft a 5L. That's the design of the game. |

" I've used an alchemy orb and 4 chaos orbs on the first unset ring i've found in the game (around level 50 i guess). I had 10 chaos orbs at that time and i've done it out of sheer curiosity as to what will happen. I've sold it to the ingame vendor at a later point for a couple of shards, effectively wasting 4 chaos orbs on a rubbish ring. Even though i probably won't bother with unset rings again, i'm definitely gonna use the ingame currency for experimenting again when i feel like it, even though i don't nearly have 100,000+ hours played. Just saying :) |

Just a couple of things i want to say. First XYZ is NOT an auction house, ROFL, It is an advertisement board, just a tool, to act as a middleman, that is all.
Next, my one real big issue with in game trading, is in game sucks so bad, worse then any other game. Forums help slightly, however many are scared off from putting items up for trade in forums, not sure why. This leads me to my problem, i like to search for specialized gear, however it is next to impossible to find certain rare items with mods im looking for, or even worse the only items i can find are of people i can NEVER find online. The next issue i have isn't 100% trade issue, but connected. the whole vender buying and selling of orbs is so screwed in some items. As an example, chromatics, who is going to pay that price who is not a newb? An example of a good items would be the alt/jewelers/fuses, those prices are very well done, and an acceptable method of skipping trading if one so chooses. Nextly, theer needs to be vendered chaos/divine/regal/exalted/eternal orbs, all at a decent price, say slightly above Standards current going rate, or maybe a system that somehow changes according to amounts bought. " At least in standard, undercutting seems to be the only way to sell anything. 100 Sellers:1 Buyer. Maybe only day I'll be able to afford some decent gear. |

" I don't reach the same conclusions as you do here. Yes people are crying about trade being more viable than farming, but they are, correctly IMO, identifying this as the amount of trash drops in the game as the root cause. Every third thread is about the horrendous drop rates. And in a game that take 1000's of slot machine pulls to hit the jackpot of a 6L. That makes it not a damnation of trade as the problem but rather unrest over a terrible drop system which leads them to use that blow off valve called trade. That's where the next bout of frustration sets in. Your assessment of how prices will be altered needs support. Rather than vendoring decent items to avoid the hassle of current trading, with an efficient system some of that gear may find a home. Right now tons of gear is just sitting on a forum post picture board unattainable to others due to having to match schedules. Efficiency and price competition is a good thing for all who are interested in actually playing the game. |
