RMT Wins. Fatality!

I disagree with the RMT apologists claiming that it has not been a material factor contributing to the excessive virtual-world inflation of PoE. This, in turn, created a vicious cycle of RMT use and ultimately, player boredom and departure.

For my part, I don't care who uses it or when - that's neither here nor there. A specific individual's use of RMT does not impact my play experience. However, widespread RMT use does impact my play experience very materially by exacerbating inflation (and creating a vicious cycle of RMT use -> player boredom -> player departure etc etc).

One point that people often overlook about the impact of PoE's virtual world item inflation is that it flies in direct contrast to the real-world deflation PoE orbs experience.

If you can email us about these accounts and any evidence you think is relevant that would be really good. We investigate and ban botters / RMT'ers frequently through our own methods but having community input does help (and we don't receive such emails as often as some might think)

edit: support@grindinggear.com

Not going to waste my time.

There was a recent case I used as a test case. I didn't email support, I don't know if anybody did, it was however posted in threads in a way such as not to be directly naming and shaming.

From those posts, I went to the well known FG site, saw the posts from the guy USING THE EXACT SAME NAME AS HIS PoE ACCOUNT. I saw the sales for FG, I saw the items posted on the site AND THE EXACT SAME ITEMS POSTED ON THESE FORUMS, by the person using THE EXACT SAME NAME.

Did anything happen?
No.

Do I think anything would have happened if I contacted GGG?
No.

Do I think GGG could have and should be doing this very simple work themselves as a matter of course?
You bet.

In short, me contacting GGG would have been an eWaste of my time. Because I couldn't have told them anything more than they should already know.
Casually casual.

I've accepted that as a mostly self-found player I have no chances in competing in a tradecore RMT environment. I came here to play hack&slash, not MS Office.

GGG choose an "everything is trade-able insane unforgiving RNG" model for their game, probably knowing such model is a goldmine for RMT. They will have to deal with it or succumb to it. But until RMT someday threatens the actual servers the game is running on, I don't give a damn (anymore).

Maybe someday paid leagues will allow the creation of a fair H&S environment, that wont be focused 90% on shopping, scamming, lotteries... and I look forward to it. Until then I'm happy to be oblivious to the whole tradecore RMT mess going on around me and play with the few toys unforgiving RNGesus blessed me with in 1.5k hours of gameplay.

There was a time I cared (maybe a year ago) about the game 'economy' and environment / community in general, because I was seeing PoE as being The Game I would want to play (competitively etc.). But not so anymore, because the shopping playstyle PoE requires and is designed for, does not cater to me.

Michael, thanks for reading and responding to the thread. I think this is an existential topic for PoE.

Are you able to share any insights as to what GGG has found (or believes) to be the impact of RMT on PoE, and it's economy specifically. I would be flabbergasted if you guys didn't have a view.

There are "out" in scrandard; the vaal orbs were designed for that, and new OP uniques are supposed to fade out the old OP legacy, release after release. Like most of games like that, btw the funny point is to observe dps on weapons in diablo 3: max ones where like 1000 at start, now much are above 2000 or so... Even the top tiers mods on rares can be increased.

Most hardcore players are in SC or HC 4 months leagues anyway. And i, myself, saw some terrible cheat in action: i will never forget this merveil runs in invasion start; the player was a templar with low gear obviously, but able to reach merveil in like 5-10 seconds just after entering the anchor TP ! Was the most hilarious merv runs i did in this game; everybody was just waiting at him opening a TP in town; he was running for all.
Ofc this happend rarely since they prefer to do it in private.

The Vaal orb dose help but again not enoughf. Thare needs to be a massive loss to combat the amount of items created. Like in EvE online whare evreything built is eventualy destroyed in combat.

It's just the way loot grinind games are it's very hard to creat a good system to destory player wealth and still keep them interested in playing.

As for the Merv runs. Well yha what's so special about that ? The same gets done at all farming spot. I can run to dom faster than my buddy can sell his loot from the last dom kill. This almost helps confirm that players have the ability to overload the market without botting/RMT.
Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

┬─┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ)

But I couldn't tell you anything that wasn't blatantly obvious, any way.

If you are saying something would have happened, that this blatantly obvious information would have been something you would have acted on, then you are saying you didn't actually have this information prior and are not doing these simple acts of 'detection' as the norm.

Why are you not using what is there in front of you?

Why don't you just go to JSP and look at all the threads with link to RMTers forum shops(yes, i have even sent an e-mail with a link to example topic where guy was selling his shop stuff on jsp, no action was taken, haven't even received a reply) or just look at item screenshots posted to find accounts owning those items?

I mean, like, why the hell are you so lazy? Guy posts 20 items for sale on jsp with screenshots that include full names and their stats and you don't even (lift) care about banning the shit out of him.

When someone says he doesn't want to waste his time by reporting RMTers, I do understand why. Stop braking tables and get those scumbags banned.

All it takes is a one banwave in order to make many people quit rmting.

You keep using that phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Low-end fluid dynamics, for example, tend to be blatantly obvious to me. However, to most people, they're about as comprehensible as the Necronomicon. Similarly, things which may be blatantly obvious to you as a player may not be as blatantly obvious to the devs, especially when the devs are likely required to go through some form of thorough verification process to prevent false bans whereas you can condemn the process from afar.
