POE or Torchlight II > Diablo III?

I too vote for the underdogs...
And the NZ companies...
GpaS was here 2011/2012 <3
I really hope PoE will go big. But Blizz has got the cash to advertise, advertise and...advertise. They will sell D3 like an antidote for cancer.
But i think if the payment options are just cosmetical and the gameplay and atmosphere of the final version of PoE is good, it will always have it's customers. Especially because of some really interesting innovations like a whole bunch of different leagues. I think PoE is on a good way.

Btw: I know an editor for gaming mags here in germany. I already told him a little about this game and he is quite interested. Hope i can invite him to beta soon. Maybe i can get him to write some preview of PoE. Or i'll do it myself (already did that for Quake Live closed beta).
I think a little promotion through users like us is quite helpful in supporting GGG.

I personally don't like where D3 is going. It looks too cartoony for my taste... like WoW and WC3. Their art direction is just so distasteful to a game like Diablo. Not only that, but buying items with real money? And Blizzard takes a CUT!? WTF... It's almost like item hacking. Renders PvP useless... a regular lvl 1 user against a lvl 1 user that bought epic equipment, it's just awful.

I take it you've never really been into competitive PVP in Diablo 2, where people are more than happy to purchase items to get a competitive edge over others.
Just taking a look at a D2 item shop, a perfect Paladin Combat grand charm with +45 life costs $15. You tend to need half an inventory full of those to be competitive and the likelyhood of you ever finding 1, let alone 5+ of them isn't worth thinking about.
I will be PoE all the way for me as i lost my job a few weeks ago so not got much money to splash about and this game is the answer to all my dreams
Definitely. This game warrants people like us to try and promote it in any way we can, big or small, much more than any triple A title. Blizzard will have a pretty aggressive ad campaign no doubt. I don't think PC Gamer have covered PoE much at all which is a shame. With the f2p market growing all the time, this game should be the talk of the town regarding that category. It has gathered a great buzz though nevertheless.

D3 will be a huge success, it will be impossible to beat the reputation of Blizzard and the Diablo-Franchise. They are more or less free to do anything with that game.
What is at stake is the longterm impact on Hack&Slay gaming and Blizzard games. That's where PoE and Torchlight come in. They are given the chance to show players that the path Blizzard chose for D3 is not just the only path, but a very controverse path. For example, I am pretty sure that the RMAH will be a mess, among other things.
But PoE and Torchlight can only succeed in time. For the first couple of months, there will be nothing else than D3, simply because it's D3.

I think the real money auction house is a great idea, actually.

Take a look at how many item shops there are for D2, or consider the fact that the third biggest forum on the internet is based on a premium Diablo 2 bot, and people still willingly part with cash for a currency they can use to buy Diablo item.

Clearly, there's a large market of people willing to spend real money on items, and Blizzard have been smart enough to realise it and to try to capitalise on the market, while giving players a safe way of buying and selling gear.

I still don't understand why people are so against it :/

As far as the wider topic, I never got on well with the original Torchlight, so I'm not holding my hopes for #2, but PoE looks like a natural progression for ARPG's. It almost looks like a cross between the mechanics of Diablo and those of Sacred.

You could tell them this a thousand times and they still wont get it. we'll see after people are selling poe items online, maybe they will wake up.

Because it rewards people who have large(r) bank accounts, and yes, I am a serious enough gamer that it bugs me if some douche with a massive bankroll has gear equal to mine even though he didn't invest the same amount of time in-game for it.

I don't see how someone having a nice items takes from your gaming experience. I always thought it was better to group with nicely geared char's.

Some great points being made on here. I'm glad most realize i am not trying to start a fanboy war or anything of the kind. One thing i love about PoE is their take on health potions and the use of them. Its very original. It's a little thing but an inventive one. Similarly inventive to Torchlight's use of having a pet and using it to stash loot and send it to town to sell it. Will D3 implement that? I never actually heard.

In d3 you can sell and break down items on the fly....Then you can sell the items in ah or have the blacksmith craft you items + d3 has a bigger inventory. d3> poe PoE might look nice and shiny on the surface, but d3 has a lot of depth to it.

No way to know until all games are out and people play them. I know myself I will be playing Path of Exile, Torchlight 2, Diablo 3, and Grim Dawn.
I think, Diablo 3 won't deserve to be called Diablo 3.

Rather Woblio, yeah, Woblio.

Fucking WOW-Blizzard, shame on you, and your whole fucking childish company, you've become! Shame on you!

I hate myself for knowing, I will buy it anyway, just because some little hope is still left, they won't screw it up totally.

While my hope for Woblio decreases everyday, my hopes for POE are rising in return, and im more than satisified with that!
