POE or Torchlight II > Diablo III?
Please don't make threads like these.
These kinds of threads are bad luck for the game. Look at Rift it was suppose to be the "WoW killer" but its dying faster than WoW. Zanowen the Crab Spammer R.I.P

" What about if that guy has a 40hr p/w job, a wife and kids? Should he be penalised because he can't play the game as much as someone in school with huge amounts of free time? Surely it makes sense that this hypothetical guy can spend his money on making his hobby more fun? |

I didn't say the auction house is a bad idea, I said it will be a mess. And that's not only due to douches with huge bank accounts. It transforms virtual ingame-need-for-greed into real greediness, it can be easily manipulated by Blizz (drop rates, own auctions with rare items to push prices... call me paranoid, but if they know one thing, than it is how to make money), and ingame trading with ingame gold will not exist except for HC-Mode, etc etc.
A wise man (forgot who) once said: If a system can be corrupted, it will be corrupted. I think those words are true, concerning D3 in terms of economy and the resulting behaviour of the community. But thats totally off-topic :) PoE will be my first choice among the three, and we will see how each one gets along. |

I actually like seeing a thread like this on another forum that doesn't degrade into stupid "Diablo 3 will crush all" trolling statements. We've got a bunch of people in the PoE beta who got in by hanging around with friends on the Runic Games forums and getting extra keys from them (myself included). We're loving PoE, and looking forward to play it alongside Torchlight 2 and Grim Dawn and Diablo 3. :)
As for comparing Torchlight 2 to Torchlight 1 (someone mentioned that if they can play it without going into a coma they will consider an improvement), the Runic devs are a lot like the GGG devs in that they have been listening to their community and improving on everything. If you want to see the coverage our guy got out of PAX, you can check it out here and see how it's improved from TL1. Oh, and someone mentioned how they thought managers at Runic forced the developers to move on to Torchlight 2 instead of fixing bugs, that's not actually what happened. I can count the bugs or broken things on one hand that never got patched, and they got put aside because fixing them required some major changes to the engine that couldn't be implemented for Torchlight 1 without breaking things like saves or mods, so the priority just shifted to making sure it can't repeat for the sequel. There aren't actually any "managers" at Runic, with the exception of one or two people everyone works together in one big room, and everyone is a developer, no one is just a manager who tries to make decisions on everyone. |

The thing I like about Runic and GGG: They listen to fans. I don't think the current politic at Blizzard has been guided by fans, but don't misunderstand me, diablo 3 is going to be a great game.

Personally, Path of Exile has everything I expected to see in Diablo 3. I love the design, I love the passive skill tree and active skill gems, and I love the atmosphere. Looking at screen shots of D3 and PoE, I just feel more interested in PoE. D3 looks like a solid game, but they've lost my attention with the cartoon-like atmosphere, as well as the RAH. They've made a lot of improvements within the game, but I just don't see myself becoming immersed when the game just looks so... cuddly at times.
I personally hope PoE has a successful launch and great community to back it up. GGG deserves a lot of respect and praise for all of the hard work they've put into the game, as well as listening to player response. As for Torchlight 2, I never touched the first one, so can't say I'll touch this one either. But, personally, I'm planning on playing both PoE and D3. Then I'll know for sure, hehe. |

" I work 40hr p/w, have a wife and 4 kids and also dislike the idea someone can buy into stuff that I've played for. Happily, Blizz has blocked RMHA from HC mode so that's where I'll be staying in that game. The other thing I disagree with is the idea that they will all three come out and then D3 will rule for a while. They won't all three come out at the same time, I seriously doubt blizzard pushed D3 back to 2012 for an expected delay of a single month, I would be shocked if D3 was out before March. TL2 should be out sometime in the next few months and while PoE doesn't look to be finished any earlier than D3, it should "soft launch" with the open beta earlier. That should leave time for anyone interested to spend a couple months on each game and then decide what to continue with. |

Let's be honest, noone of you really thinks Torchlight 2 or POE will have any effect on the sales of DIablo 3.
What I think( My opinion) is that diablo 3 will have impact on the torchlight 2 and POE sales. Because, if blizzard fails and people won't be satisifed with the game, people will try something else. Sure they won't come out all at the same time, but I assume(Me only me) that they will release it before DIA3 comes out. Diablo 3 will be sold, if it sucks or not, it will sell. Because, I will buy it, even so I don't like the way Blizzard is goingwith the game. BUT, I wanna know what storyline will be in act 3-4 and if I can overlook some changes they made, like noncustimazation ( i think i spelled it wrong). That's why I will buy Diablo 3, but the question, where will I stay after a month? Where will the community go? I really believe the long waited Diablo 3 is actually Path of Exile. What I've seen so far from the game and what I read here in the forums, makes me trully believe that this is the future hacknslay. Much Love the developers are bringing to the game, and I love that! Kinda got longer than I expected it. LG Kendoshi |

Regardless of how good D3 actually turns out to be, it'll introduce a lot of people to the ARPG genre, and they might then move onto Torchlight 2 and/or Path of Exile. That can only be a good thing, both for the respective developers, and for the ARPG genre as a whole as well.

I plan on playing all 3 games, and I think they all look great. The difference for me is that I will probably just be playing Torchlight 2, and Path Of Exile for fun, and to get my harcore fix. Whereas I will be playing Diablo 3 to make money while I have some softcore fun.
I love the idea of RMAH. I have no problem with people being super strong with money, because it just doesn't affect my game. I'm happy, and I hope everyone else is happy too playing a game the way they want, that best fits them. Even within the context of being unhappy with people spending money for in-game power, or finding it unfair I think that people should support separated RM, and non RM servers. I made a post about it here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/937/page/27#p156074 The gist of my stance is that if you have a fair, safe, in-game way of trading for real money on a separate server from the non-RM, then there is no incentive for goldfarmers to come to the non-RM server, thus keeping the people who want a pure, no money exchanged field of play, happy. And allowing people like me who want to find items and sell them, to do so without being banned, or having to be paid slave labor prices. And the people who want to buy items for RM will be able to do so safely, and securely. As it stands with Diablo 3 playing hardcore will not make it so that you won't be playing with people who didn't spend real money for items. It will simply be done on third party websites, and it will be done because the hardcore items will be more valuable so some people will prefer this over playing "legal" softcore to sell items. http://www.therainforestsite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=4
