Poe XYZ Broke the trade

This just isn't true, that reflects far more on the player. If you feel inclined to trade that much, that's really on you.

So, you are able to sustain a pool of level 75+ maps without trading?

Nope, never claimed that. When I'm forced to do things I don't want to, I typically try to reject it and haven't played the game in 6 months as a result. Though I had given up on the whole map system a very very long time ago.

Ultimately it's fairly simple for me, when I start trading the game dies, every time. Sometimes I just didn't have the will to stop myself and sometimes I'd been forced to trade (partying, races, etc), it all ended poorly.

I prefer to not involve myself in trading as much as possible. But at a certain stage the game gives me no choice - either bore yourself to death in faceroll Lunaris 3 or low maps, farming for orbs, or sell some stuff for orbs to be able to roll maps -> the content I want to play.

Yeah, I like mapping, but it's really the thing that "forces" me to trade, which I have little interest in. Poe.xyz makes it less tedious, but you're right, it still causes resentment. I've not played in a week or so, and hadn't played for a couple months before. The ratio of "things I want to do" and "annoying stuff I am forced to do in order to allow me to have fun" is not favorable.

I'd probably have a better time if I shelved characters at 70.

This is pretty much what I did, I kept on retiring characters between 70-80, probably 15 of them. Ultimately the game plays worse (for my preferred playstyle) than it used to though, so that eventually died out, though it started getting laborious a fair time before I actually stopped playing. Investment and the resulting persistence is a bitch, I guess.

Same. Type in item name, check "online", check "buyout", hit search, whisper person. Doesn't answer? Press "arrow up" key, try next name. It's only time consuming if you haggle.

i've likely been playing this game much, much, much longer than you

some of us have multiple accounts.

and no, it's just like d3 in this respect.

if only takes you 3 seconds to find an item you need, it probably:

1) wasnt as cheap as you could get it (not saying you should haggle - thats a waste of time)
and/or
2) was a pretty shit-tacular item

it's starting to be exactly like what everybody hated about d3. the most efficient way to get good items = WATCH THE AUCTION HOUSE LIKE A HAWK

people have extremely, COMICALLY short memories.

a year ago, people were saying the MAIN REASON why poe was better than d3 was because poe does not have an auction house.

now it does. and now people are saying different things

*facepalm*

edit: even Chris himself has talked a crazy lot about how much an AH hurts ARPGs and how he wouldnt put one in PoE because it takes the fun away from farming items.

well, here we are!

Here we are, with everyone using Poe.xyz like they would an AH. What hurts ARPGs is balancing them around trading, but not offering proper tools for trading (or having the wrong tools, like a RMAH, which was D3's issue).

Also, Chris says a lot of things. You're new, in spite of what you say about having multiple accounts, and when you've been around for a bit, you'll see what I mean. I was certainly much more in awe when I was new, too, so this isn't meant to come across negatively. PoE and GGG look really good and impressive at first, but there is quite a bit of glamour.

Still the best ARPG in recent years (if you stop before 75 or so), but D2 was better and PoE could be a lot better if Chris stopped "making the game for himself". (Which would be fine if he actually regularly played it under the same conditions that we do.)
I dont understand why players want to resist trading...its part of the game.

Without it, how will your 2nd or 3rd characters be fun without needing to grind all over again...
Thanks!
