Brian's Feedback to Looting (quote from reddit)
" Actually they won't be at all. Quite the reverse. Blizz have a rep for arrogantly ignoring the needs of their players, especially in D3, and as a result are losing them fast. GGG on the other hand have a rep for listening to player concerns. It baffles me when people suggest moaners go back to Diablo, when Blizz do not give a shit about player moans. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

" I haven't seen one single person asking for FFA loot to be taken away. Asking for the option to choose loot rules means FFA is still in the game. Why feel threatened by an option? There are obviously large numbers on both sides of the loot preferences, so FFA loot will be there for you just as readily as it now. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

" Exactly. I felt like I was going crazy reading the first couple pages because people seemed to assume it was an argument between either the current system, FFA, or a Diablo 3/TL personal-loot system. As long as we see the loot that drops, even if we can't loot it, you avoid the bubble issue. People don't feel like they need to focus on blink skills just to get their loot in time, and there is no incentive to leave the group to try and ninja stuff off-screen. This would, of course, be an option and not forced on anyone. I do understand the argument that it slows down gameplay. Groups that want things to be more fast-paced can set the loot rules to FFA or to a lower timer. People that just want to have a relaxed, social atmosphere in normal can set it to "round-robin" style with no timers. If they don't want to give us the option for NO timers, because having loot sitting there that noone can loot because the player it was assigned to left or overlooked it, it could be an option between 2 second timers, no timers, and 5 minute timers. 5 minutes is long enough that even in a protracted boss fight w/adds, there is more than enough time to loot anything assigned to you and explore off-screen to make sure you didn't miss anything, but not so long that it will torture someone who wanted to run back to the beginning to pick up stuff people missed at the end of a run. This is why I am suggesting FFA in HC only...problem solved.
If you think I care what you think, you need more of a life than I do.

" The bubble comment baffled me as well. Never felt it. And if it is there it can soon be burst. You get into public multiplayer, you have a great session with a few players, judged purely on how well you fought together and watched each other's backs (ie no loot contention whatsoever)....there is a decent chance you might friend those people and who knows, you might still be playing with them in 10 years time. That's the opposite of bubble. On the other hand, play with strangers where you feel they are loot hoovering, no way you want to meet those assholes again. That's a bubble. There will be way less Ffa group if people can choose non Ffa.
Ffa option needs drop rate increase to keep people interested. Coordinated group will have huge advantage but that's something people need to suck it up. People who ask for loot option don't care about people who love Ffa system. You guys really need to think about it. |

Non Ffa loot idea is great for a lot of people.
But we can't let Ffa loot lovers to have hard time finding a group. Plz keep that in mind. |

" It appears allot of people on the forums have allot of support for FFA so how do you feel it is going to be an issue....unless your worried that your the minority and not the majority...or you will loose your outlet on easy loot by screwing others over? If you think I care what you think, you need more of a life than I do.

" Zing! Either you believe it will be half and half and everyone can get the kind of party they want, OR you believe the majority will flock to personal loot, killing off FFA. If it's the latter, then this suggests that the FFA system isn't fit for purpose as most people do not want it. So really it comes down to whether you think the game should never, ever change, except on the developers whim (Blizzard model, btw, I've had years of that crap) or whether it should adapt to the needs of it's players (which I thought was the GGG model).
