Invasion players - no need to bash Standard Players

Softcore is so boring. No idea how you guys can join a party and watch everyone die constantly and zerg the content. Honestly posting on the forums is more entertaining than SC.

I play both SC and HC and grouping in SC is so bad that I could really use a third hand to endlessly facepalm while playing in a party.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

If this game was hardcore, when you died, they would be it.

I really can't stand people who say, "why do you care what people say?" As if they don't fucking care when someone insults them, especially if it's unjustified and seems to be endorsed by the company. Yeah Chris says he doesn't like the term but what have they done about it? Calling standard league scrubcore and calling the players who play there bad is as antagonizing as calling someone a list of offensive terms that get edited out of posts on a daily basis.

And yeah, having a wife, kids, 60 hour a week job among other responsibilities can prevent someone from playing hardcore if they want to progress at a pace that works for their limited play time. What it boils down to is having fun and when you have limited time, endlessly grinding low level areas isn't fun when you can take a little risk and progress at content level.

Again, why do you care?

Play the game and do your thing, if peer pressure is your issue, play invasion to "show them".

What exactly do you want the developers to do against this? Delete the hardcore leagues? Pay your rent so you can play hardcore? (not that that is any argument)

"But those people insult me, do something about it game developers!" is something you say in first grade to your teacher, i'd expect your problem solving skills to advance over that at some point, in your life.

Lol I'm not going to indulge your stupidity, I will only go as far as to say, if the moderators, through the CEO of the company can delete posts that name and shame/ that are antagonistic, they can moderate the idiocy that is plaguing their game. And for the record, I never said I cared, I play what I want because it's my time but I'm not ignorant enough to not see how it can impact other people.

The irony, you call me names in a thread dedicated against namecalling (because thats what this is for you, calling softcore scrubcore is namecalling to you)

Its pretty obvious *that* you care, my question was, why *do* you care.

If you just want to do your thing, do your thing. But this thread seems more and more like you want to be congratulated for heaving a life and managing to play softcore.

Congratulations to you then, good sir, you manage to play a game while heaving a life. I for one, dont find that a feat worth making a thread about, the forums would be swamped. But here, you officially get a pat on the back from me.

Personally, i play this game for fun, and to relax. I roll in the HC leagues exclusively now, but had a char in softcore once. I dont brag about rolling in invasion, because i dont think people give a fuck. (i dont) So i find it very hard to fathom why you do, or rather, why you care about what other people think of your gameplay.

I apologize if I offended the great many people who play Invasion and do not bash everyone else.

I play for fun but probably spend more time browsing forums than actual game play atm. I think reading the thread about Mathil's first Ambush kill seeing the posts putting down his accomplishment kind of ticked me off. I see them all the time but why people feel the need to put others down is beyond me. As a matter of fact, I think everyone who kills Atziri in Invasion should be grateful to those in other leagues. If it were not for the permanent leagues clearing and making video's and guides as to the mechanics, you would all lose your HC char on the first attempt.

The reason do not play hardcore is that, with my limited play time, I do not want to level a new char from scratch if I die. Simple as that. I started my level 88 Scion in the beginning of December and am now halfway to 89. If I had the time to power level a char to 89 in a week, I would play hardcore as I know I would love the excitement.

The reason I do not play Ambush is that in 4 months, I may not be able to accumulate the wealth, levels and gear to accomplish my goal before I get thrust back into standard anyway.

At the end of the day, these forums will have zero impact on my life or enjoyment of the game. It is fun enough to get a dialogue started and read the comments so thank you all who have contributed to this thread.

oh, sorry, i mistook that guy for you, op.
Gameplay In Softcore:

Join a dominus party.
See five shadows with daggers.
Everyone keeps dying and porting back to kill the boss.
After 12 deaths in 2 minutes Dominus dies.

Gameplay In Hardcore:

Join a dominus party.
See five marauders with shields.
Everyone casts enfeeble and decoy totems and deals 0 dmg.
After 12 minutes with no deaths Dominus dies.

You choose which situation is worse.
I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.
Solo self-found is the true hardcore. Everything else is for [removed by support].

I play standard. The reasons are simple. I'm new to the game (been here a month or so) and until I understand it more then I will stay in Standard. For me its not about the "league" that I play in, but rather about setting individual goals for the game. As long as I'm having fun playing the game and advancing in my own personal goals then I'm happy. Once I figure out more of the details of the game I may turn to playing in the leagues, but one must learn to walk before one starts sprinting.

My 1st goal is to at least achieve a lvl 85+ toon. I would like to get it to 100, but I've heard that can be pretty time consuming when you get around the lvl 82-83 mark. I'm lvl 78 at the moment and I can already see the xp slowing down alot. I will have to see what happens. On the last game I played (Dark Age of Camelot on Uthgard) it took me 2.5-3 years of playing to achieve my RR10 ranger. I always told new players, "Dont think of this game as a sprint, its a marathon. Take your time and enjoy the journey." The same applies here.
Nothing against Standard league but everyone who can should try some group HC/Invasion. It's a whole different experience and has given me some of the best moments playing this game.

Having a Riptastic day complete with an epic level 4 one-shot by the discharge invader can be very exciting as can beating a tough invader on a higher level character after a long kitefest or watching someone RIP into a shotgun or big DPS.

If I am being entirely honest, i find "hardcore" players who mock "softcore" players laughable.

It's essentially big nerds (I don't use the term in a negative way, I am a full nerd/geek myself) calling other people less elite. It's quite simply pathetic.

But this is in line with behaviour around all games. People will always be defensive of their game choice and they will always falsely think themselves superior because they play game A or game type B.

examples: dota vs lol; battlefield vs cod etc. etc.

What saddens me even more is that often it is not the childish teens (from whom you would expect such behavior) but grown ass men.

Point being
It will always happen
Just laugh at the "elite" gamers and their attempts at makign themselves feel falsely superior
Ignoring people like that is the best treatment

p.s. I say this, having been the person who mocks. I have often felt that people who play cod or lol are noobs. Was I/Am I being a pathetic loser for thinking that? Absolutely! I'd like to think I changed.

Play whatever game/type leaves your happiest and fuck everyone

Well I also dont get a lot of time per week, but I still play HC. I dont think it has anything to do with time available really.
