General Discussion - D3 and PoE - Forum

I'm sure it's more along the lines of "Oh man, Path of Exile is so awesome, we're going to be so awesome." I'm sure the intention is to succeed by their merits, not Blizzard's failings. Exactly correct, the passive skill system is something that could set this game far apart from diablo 3, provided it is thoroughly tested. What I really wanted from Diablo 3 was basically an updated Diablo 2. D2 was pretty close to perfect for me. One of the things I don't like about D3 is... well the art direction. It does feel a bit cartoony like the Warcraft series. The graphics in PoE seem crisper and darker.. but that's not to say they're better. Can only judge that if you play both. I'm intrigued by both games and can't wait to get my hands on them. Not like there are too many other great RPGs like this coming out any time soon... and I've had my fill of Torchlight (not even bothering with 2). Yeah, sure, there's a bunch of "true fans" out there... ...but I already own Diablo 2. So does a pretty significant portion of the potential market for Diablo 3. The folly of spending millions of dollars to repackage and try to sell people something they already own should be apparent. I agree the character design is a little cartoony, but I love the world design. As for D2 being perfect, I'm going to have to disagree, it was revolutionary for it's time, but there's so many things ARPGs since have done better. I think this game will be better then D3. blizzard seems to enjoy shooting them selves in their proverbial foot as it were with slow content releases and real cash AH id rather outright give a company money then have it leached off of transactions between me and another player. lets be honest here GGG will probably be releasing content regularly wile blizz will wait 2 years, release a few new areas and charge you $30 calling it an expansion pack.
