AoE + Leech utterly buggered in 1.1

Well the way i see it,the amount of leeched will be based not on 1 monster,if it is an AoE attack, but out of the strongest hit u ll deal. This means that if are doing an AoE hit,it calculates the damage of all monsters being hit,but instead of stacking,it just takes in acount the strongest hit, until u leeched the full amount,or u leeched back full,OR u did a stronger hit. That means that the leech rate will still be 20% of your total HP,and it would leech pretty much the same way, unless your seperate hits are very weak.
On the other way,the very high DPS CI vaal pact builds, will be impossible to deal with reflect, since unless you are using a claw,it would be impossible to match the reflect percentage.I am copying:

consider a CI build with lv20 blood rage,lv20 Life leech,6% leech from max rolled amulet, and 4% leech from rings,2% from gloves(without maligaro's)AND blood drinker= 32.8% leech * 0.4 = 13.12% Leech, meaning that even with maxed rolled life leech on every item spot,LL gem, blood rage AND blood drinker you won't be able to match the reflect percentage

Here's how I understand the whole system.

Every time you hit an enemy you create a leech 'buff' on yourself. This buff always heals 20% of your maximum health per second. It's duration is based on the amount of life leeched.

For example, if I have 5k HP and I leech 100 life I will create a leech effect on myself that heals 1k HP per second for a total duration of 0,1 seconds.

Previously when I had an active leech effect going and leeched life again the new leech effect would not start expiring until the first one ended. So if I had a 3 second leech effect and a second later leeched enough to add another 3 seconds I would get 6 seconds total, 3 from the first and 3 from the second.

Now leech effects start expiring as soon as they're added and they don't stack. So in the same situation, with a 3 second leech effect and a 3 second one added a second later I'm only going to get 4 seconds of leech. 1 second purely from the first, 2 seconds from both (non-stacking so it doesn't heal more) and then 1 second purely from the second.

now i think thats how it will work in future because it sounds logic

Let's say we have...
4000 Life
8.8% Leech (lv20 Leech Support)
2500 Damage per Hit (fuck Crits, right)

Leech replenishes at 4000 * .2 = 800 Life per Second
Each Hit Leeches 2500 * .088 = 220 Life
Each Hit replenishes for 220/800 = 0.275 seconds
To get a constant stream of replenishment, we need to hit 1/0.275 = 3.6 times per second.

With 20% Qual:
4000 * 0.24 = 960
220/960 = 0.2292
1/0.2292 = 4.36 Hits per Second required

Now look at the screen mid-combat. Is that going to be an issue?

-----------
It's important to remember that Hits from a given EDIT Projectile skill rarely land simultaneously, and their Leech potential isn't the same across the board either (Damage variance).

However with the way leech functions now, it allows you to stack up hits so that you can reach your maximum leech rate of 800 per sec if you have 4k hp. This will not be possible without very big hits now, no?

edit: nvm, my math fails me. I think.

Seriously, can a dev just put an end to the speculations already?

You always reach 800 Life per Second, with any hit. A bigger hit simply sticks around for a longer timespan - it doesn't get you more Life per Second, only more Life in total.

Read the post Sobeck quoted. It's a good description.

Reflect is a problem? News to me. I think GGG is dealing with the problem of ele builds steam rolling reflect with 50k + dps.

VP is the only way to bypass reflect and Reflect was meant to limit player from facerolling content.
If there was no reflect, no one would need to use VP.

They should have made VP lower your damage output instead of removing the only way to deal with reflect.
So basically, what this change does is this; Unless you make a massive hit, or leech a fuckton you can forget about leeching yourself from empty to full life/mana after combat ends. God this will make half/no regen maps such a massive PITA.

They should buff flasks to compensate.. :\

I don't get the design reasoning for these leech changes. It seems to me GGG is taking a problematic game mechanic — reflected damage — and just making things worse. An explanation would be nice, because the way I'm looking at it now, it's just arbitrary and punishing.

This * 10000000000

Don't understand the justification for the nerf. I'm not necessarily complaining - I can always make a new build that doesn't need so much leech. I just don't understand it.

Which brings me to what I hate the most about this change: the big boys with their big toys doing tons of DPS (either via many hits or via bigger hits) will suffer the least.

The little guy struggling with his slow, wimpy hits will leech so little it won't be worth it for him to use the mechanic at all.

Indeed. They nerf crit, and buff it some. Well done.

I am thinking my coc crit EK build that doesn't use vaal pact to survive just got a buff?
