GGG Marketing Guy would love your ideas!

Rockpapershotgun is probably the gaming site that influences me the most. If they say something's good and worth playing, I'm far more likely to try it out.

I really don't remember where I first heard about this game.

Another idea I have that seems to work quite well is sponsering a dota 2 tournament. You back the tournament and the casters will play an ad as part of their broadcast in between matches. These ads are part of the ACTUAL BROADCAST so adblock does nothing to stop them. This will help you get exposure to an audience that is likely interested in this type of game (moba players are pretty hardcore tbh)

total biscuit, kripparian, and maybe a dedicated twitch or youtube channel where a staff member answers questions from the community or plays through part of the game.

This.
Most dota players came from wc3, and most wc3 players played diablo 2 (to be fair most people probably played it...). If you can get a part of the community to try this game some of them will inevitably stick (like myself).
Totalbiscuit is already quite fond of this game so heļl happily do some promotion for it.
kripp will play once the expansion comes.

I myself discovered the game because of a thread on guru3d that this is going open beta soon. Honestly I mistook this for grim dawn (game made by titan quest creators) and for a month thought this was that game.

Imho just a simple poster above this couch will make sure that a good chunk of the male population will see it.

I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

http://www.gameplanet.co.nz/ I like to read and post on their site because it is local. They have given you guys some good publicity in the past, but give them an exclusive and I'm sure it will be of great benefit to both parties.
RIP Bolto
It's already been said at least a couple time, but that would be Rock, Paper, Shotgun for me.
I don't even like his schtick but....

a featured PewDiePie video could bring in the numbers.

Otherwise, having some form of PR presence on forums such as NeoGAF go a long way, however minute. Off the top of my head, Codemasters, Aksys, Harmonix, NISA, Atlus, XSeed all have some form of PR or Community Manager representative as members on that forum.

By word of mouth is the best marketing strategy. So with that being said, make the game appeal to more casual players for standard. I like to think I represent the casual players, so create a self found league. Created better looking micro transactions. Lastly the biggest complaints from friends that have left are XP loss, build nerfs and how difficultly of six linking. Fix these things, ramp up the content and watch how word of mouth spreads. Personally I got fed up with the more conventional journalism outlets (such as PCGamer) due to the heavy amount of adverts and PR scripted editorials, so get my gaming news from youtubers - TotalBiscuit and Force Strategy Gaming.

They are both part of the Polaris channel, who seem to do a few promotional competitions amongst their managed partners (such as Chivalry, Bloodbowl, Hearthstone). Maybe there would be a way setting up something similar as the exposure gained for the game in question is reasonably large? I'm sure others can come up with something better but maybe set up a race mini-league for them to do one of each of the easier race types? Some of them do approach some of the competitions very casually so killing them in the first 30 seconds in a hardcore race probably will result in a 30second video!

GGG should consider a commercial with their trailer. Both trailers were epic. :)
