GGG Marketing Guy would love your ideas!

Could get more active in other forums. Many times, I hit game forums on steam/Greenmangaming, ect, to talk to people actually playing, over reviews.

also, for a bit of marketing, could throw a small bundle together for Humble Bundle, like 100 points and a unique effect. Won't really profit from it, but would get exposure. Current Bundle has 168,000 sold with 2 weeks remaining. If 1% who would buy it check it the game out, could profit from it in the long run.

By the time the new leagues come out Kripp'll be your main source of advertisement.

And I hear a lot of people go on reddit

Kripps not coming back...hes a casual hearthstone player with all the other 10 year olds
Youtubers. I don't trust a single gaming site. If I want to play a game I search for Youtubers I know and trust and I watch them play and commentate on the game. If you gave some of the bigger Youtube gaming channels early access to the new content I am sure it would reach a lot of people.

You guys had a couple of videos already with Total Biscuit and Quill18 has mentioned he plays Path of Exile. The Normal Boots crew also have previously done a joint Diablo 2 run through so I see no reason why they wouldn't do something similar with a superior and modern Path of Exile.

Stay away from big media sites. They are a dying breed as more and more people have access to information through individuals.
Keep PoE2 Difficult.
And it's lame, but can always do the old Facebook/twitter ect. marketing.

Like/Share PoE on facebook and get a free stash tab and extra character slot, or something.
Branded gaming gear, like a POE mouse and mouse pad.

more items like razer footprints

spammimg D3 forum (just kidding)

a steam event where you can get items like the xmast im masks

cross items with another game (poe style items in TF2, GS:GO or Dota2, to get them you have t get to certain level in POE) for example a Rhoa courier for dota 2, a iconic Poe weapon for TF2 or a sticker with the POE logo for cs:go

One of the fun parts about managing the marketing in a smaller Indie team is that we have to be smart and creative about where (and how) we do our marketing. Having worked for some larger publishers in the past I found it was only about the pure size of the media spend and how many sites, magazine and TV placements I could own in a specific launch window. As you know at GGG we don't have that kind of money to throw around - and to be honest we wouldn't do that if we did. That being said I would love the help of the community to tell me where you read your gaming news online and perhaps even throw out some fun (and cost effective) ideas for online exposure you might have seen in the past. I know the main gaming sites (Gamespot, IGN, etc.) might be the expected response but I'm hoping to gleam some insights on outlets that I may not have considered. Sites that will give us a real 'bang for buck' both in placements and editorial. If you have any feedback or ideas please let me know - I'd love to hear from you - JT
Just ask me to fo it... im a pro at making people talk
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
This idea is kind of out-of-the-box so here we go:

GGG Humble Weekly/Regular Bundle (Or Equivalent Indie Bundle Site)

- In the past HB has thrown in F2P extras in a few humble bundles to promote the F2P game that was offered by said publisher. This consisted of usually character skins or mods in some form or another. (not sure if it's too late to submit one anyhow)

- GGG could do something where they bundle together a bunch of Effects/Pet(s) that are the most popular or have to do with the upcoming expansion.

- Obviously you'd have to split the proceeds with charity and HB (their magical slider thingy) but overall you'd get the exposure from several fronts (the charities themselves, HB (which is well known and often checked by a lot of indie gamers) and yourselves (twitter/facebook/reddit.. etc.).

Something to this effect would have to be redeemed somehow and that's where it'd be a straight PoE Key/code you could redeem to your account and it would be binding.

Get those guys to check PoE out.

Looks like you've already done that! My bad. Get them to do some more stuff for the SotV release! :)
I generally google every once in a while about products released / moved to OB within last 3 months. Maybe paying attention to keywords for bringing up PoE may be helpful, as the game already passed these stages. I think it will be quite important how you word the "new content" that comes with 1.1 release to draw some attention.

Also I think the most effective thing you have done was using a beautiful blonde with generous cleavage for representing the image of PoE. This was the main website, this was the news image, as well as game image in most game news sites. At the same time this was your worst decision as the crowd you attracted had nothing to do with the game, just like that image. I hope you will avoid similar approach in the future.

One other thing is the emphasis on what the game IS, and what it is NOT. This would go a long way in ensuring there wont be any negative scores in reviews and less discontent in forums. You should draw more emphasis on "TRADE ORIENTED" part. This is not just a feature of the game, all design and balance decisions are based on this, and new players should come knowing that.
