Is POE doing enough to counter the D3 ROS hype?

I already explained why this is wrong. Also if it actually had zero impact, GGG would've implemented it long ago.

I dont think they refuse to implement it cause of its Impact, they simply dont want to :-)

Out of spite, like Isbox1 suggested?
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Not out of spite - perhaps cause it simply never has been their Intention to make a game for selffounders :-)
I'd say it's because there is absolutely nothing stopping you from playing self found already.

There is no reason for a league. Just do it.

For me ist not about simply playing selffound. Ist about ladder gaming selffound. There is no ladder for selffounders.
I do not Need any changes concerning drop rates or something like that. I just want a sfl ladder :D

I dont Need it THAT bad, it just would be nice :-)

I will Play sf when the next HC league hits :-)

Special marks for selffounders in the existing leagues would do the same for me.

Countless people before me have said this, but I think it bears repeating; This is a flawed, incomplete argument. Why? Because with this line of thinking, HC leagues aren't needed either, you can just voluntarily delete your chars on death.

Somehow, I don't think that would go over too well.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am certainly not in the "every playstyle needs a league" camp either. Quite the opposite, I worry that paid leagues are going to be detrimental to the social aspect of the game... but I digress.

If you want a SFL with increased drop rates, you're simply not going to get it. Period. If you want a paid league where trading is simply disabled, that is probably well within the allowable mechanics of a custom paid league. But, honestly is that going to attract enough people to justify the existence of such a league? I guess we will see.

IMO, POE needs to do absolutely nothing to counter the ROS hype. D3 and POE should not be seen as McDonalds vs Burger King, rather as McDonalds vs MommaBears Backwoods Homecookin Diner. McDonalds is incredibly consistent; a Big Mac is going to taste almost the same in every single McDonalds in the world. As such, that is where you want to go if you want a snack without worrying about what you're going to get in the bag.

People who are more interested in variety are going to flock to MommaBears. MommaBears is not where you go if you want your burger to taste the same every day for the rest of your life.

I hope this analogy is as confusing as it is obfuscated.

I see PoE vs RoS as ARMA vs CoD. I've never seen a 'Is ARMA doing enough to counter the CoD hype?' thread though.

What concerns me is that someone like kripp got completely burned out on ARPGS by playing RoS beta, that could be bad.

It was the worst advertisement ever :^)

He played with broken skills in a beta which not only wasn't tuned in player and monster damage, but had massively inflated drop rates because they wanted feedback on the gear.

It was far from an accurate display of the levelling and gear progression.

It was more akin to a dev doing a /lvl70, /BiSgearset, /uberdevpowa than an accurate display of RoS release.

Most people know that.
Casually casual.

Preordered RoS, will play it for sure. But for how long? :)
