But yeah, as far as the first part goes you are sadly right. Diablo 3 has nice fluid combat but is missing the magic.

D3's original release did enough to counter any "hype" for RoS. The experience was so catastrophic and disappointing for me that I will skip RoS. It was the last drop in the Blizzard shit barrel that had been getting fuller and fuller over the years. I'm simply done with the company.

Besides, none of the fundamental flaws (shallow design, very limited customizability, scaling difficulty) have been addressed.

PoE is where it is for the serious ARPG fan. ;)

GGG is doing nothing to counter the D3 ROS hype train.
GGG is very lucky that D3 is a steaming pile of shit.
Lack of contemporary competition from other games makes POE looks like a good game by comparison.
Right until someone makes a real successor of D2 by accident where everything aligns and nobody will even remember D3 and POE exist.

I'm/was huege D2 fan, played since 1.08 till 1.11. Best game ever. Was hyped about D3 ALOT. On something like 20th of April got a beta key and was dissapointed. Then came MAY 15-17th 2012 when I was devastated in terms of Diablo series. Played for 1-2 month, gave acc away to my cousins and never looked back.

Bought POE beta key and was like OMG WTF no WAY! Now, no fancy cinematic or big commpany marketing campain will get me to play D3-whatever expansion. Game needs to flip for 360° in order to get to the right track for me.

Staying with PoE. I'll just check D3 cinematic which will be UBER as allways.

Not really. It has no persistent, secure online servers. It's just like Torchlight, Titan Quest, etc. Single player games where you can hack and edit your files aren't very appealing to me. I think it appeals to a different sub-audience than PoE does.

I think the vast majority of aRPG players have already formed an opinion on D3 & the up coming xpac.
I feel Bliz has gotten enough of my money for not so good products of late.
I do not feel the need to support the way the d3 pc community has been treated.
And I won't be buying RoS when it's released.
To say I'll never play it would prob be untrue. I bought D3v on release & will prob play the xpac at some point a year or so down the line depending..

ROS is an expansion, so let's assume that most buyers have already played vanilla D3. If someone has played D3 and liked it enough to try the expansion, good riddance.

I think that for most people who played D3, the term "hype" doesn't describe very well their feelings towards that game :)

Let's say it's a complete Jay Wilson and leave it at that.

p.s. I wasn't one of the 9999999999 forum QQers from D3, I just got so utterly bored by the game that I quit after 2 weeks. Didn't even care enough to spare the effort for QQing. One complains when one feels there is a reasonable chance for improvement. D3 was unsalvageable.

For me personally, i'll wait and see what reviews will pop up.

It does sound promising for me, as a casual, self found player, with little time. Better ways to get good gear..

I am nowhere as far in POE, I have just enough time to run a map or 2 each day....

I do love me some theory crafting build though in POE..

I'll probably buy it after a few weeks though, and play both for the rest of the next 3 years.. :)

Main money pit will still be POE though! loveya!
