Is POE doing enough to counter the D3 ROS hype?

There isn't going to be an exodus of players from PoE to RoS.

RoS is a joke. You can't even trade. What the hell is the point of Diablo if you can't find items and trade them with other people to increase your wealth?

PoE will get an INCREASE of players from Diablo 3 once the playerbase realizes his.
What the fuck is this place? Did I click on the wrong button?

Oh well, I know I'm getting DS2, which is probably going to steal a lot of PoE's Hardcore audience, although by the time it comes to PC we'll probably get bored again

Wasn't D3 another game labeled Diablo with mechanics developed for console in mind. Good systems or not, it didn't feel like a Diablo game at all.

As to players who only care about the story and atmosphere, I doubt RoS will be on their must play PC game list after seeing all those morning cartoon villains that talked too much, the futanari Lord of Terror who obviously feared of you, idiotic telepathic dialogue boxes, overexposed stories, anti-immersion portraits, low quality 2D inventory icons, dull fonts, and nonexistent music.

There is no hype, forum population PoE:D3 is around 1:2 in my region. 2 years are past, not even the slowest learner can be blind to its shallow essence.
You won't have my gear.
Sure im going to play Dark Souls 2 & Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD remaster when it comes out but ill be back for PoE :)

RoS hype is a joke, I feel sorry for people that are about to fall for it a second time.

D3 is what it is, the action part of the game is good. But the series is now a shell of its former self.
In 1 weekend i beat all difficulties with max paragon level in d3 ... I spent $20 in RMAH. boring as shit and so easy a 8 yr old can master it with 0 class customization.

POE is doing enough by just existing.

POE, an adult ARPG with more depth than d3 could ever have.

You can trade, who told you you couldn't?

What you can't do, is trade legendary items or crafted(?) items. This will in many cases ultimately mean you can't just buy BiS gear, you need to kill monsters for them, be it as drops or via crafting.

Diablo was never about currency wealth.

You are right, of course, that PoE will get an influx from D3 come the changes, shoppers gonna shop, instant grats gonna instant grats.
But it will be traffic both ways, D3 will get PoE players, hardcore loot-finders gonna hardcore loot-find, hardcore aRPGers gonna hardcore aRPG.

While we will see traffic both ways, the meat of RoS players, I think will come from elsewhere. To get the aRPG fix that PoE couldn't give, that D3 vanilla couldn't give, that RoS won't give long term, either. But until a game does D2 justice similar to what PoE did in many ways, without the derp economy trade gating and desync, RoS will have to do for many.

Grim Dawn is the game that will most likely hit the spot better than any other game has yet.

If you can't afford to spend 30 or 40 bucks to try out RoS, then worrying about PoE vs D3 is the least of your problems.

who is saying they cannot afford it? Don't try to act like an elitist, that's not the point. The point is, I won't be buying RoS on principle. If actiblizzard had ANY integrity at all, they would be giving RoS for free to the suckers (like myself) who pre-ordered D3 and played it for the first few months. But they don't have integrity and I sure as hell am not buying that. I'd prefer to spend $40 on cosmetics here because GGG does have integrity.

Sadly, it won't matter. They will sell a lot of copies and consider it a success.

Principles, yah!!.

I, too, swore I would never give Blizz another penny, on principle. Especially for RoS.

But people need their aRPG fix and what that fix is, can be quite different to the individual.
PoE got my money, I threw several hundred $ at them. But I have been very, very disappointed with PoE and GGG. While for a person who has no issue with trade gating, who loves to buy quick progress, I can see it being easy to hold on to the principles that D3 vanilla and Blizz brought about.

But for many, myself included, GGG's refusal to accept there can be any fun in not trading, in not taking the path of least resistance, outright gating challenge, content and crafting behind trading and completely dismissing the type of long term progression that is wanted by so many; even so much as I swore to never give Blizz a penny for anything, I have indeed already paid for RoS and swore to never give GGG another penny.

I'm not alone here, I know that. And I did not expect that GGG would have the effect on me that it did, because I would have bet a fortune on me never giving Blizz another penny, once.
