Amount of grinding in PoE, compared to Diablo 2
Just real quick, last thing about D3 loot drops. Yes, I did. I got a nearly perfect ammy trifecta and a godly mempo within two days of returning after they announced the RoS expac.
I sold them for nearly max gold and cant see a single viable reason to play that game ever again. 'It is good to contact a moderator if you feel someone is being a twat' Charan, Forum Moderator

" thats because preXpac they mustve introduced the loot1.5/2.0 once again your definition of godly is also skewed. did your amu have 300mainstat200vit 10%ias 99-100%CD 9-10%CC +DMG if not then it wasnt godly , it was good. what do you think about the ignomons araku tikis karui wards dingdongs gloves sheepfarmer boots cateyes paws aldi claws and bunch of UTTER SHIT in your endgame as drops? since youre so hellbent on hating on d3 and you loot a 6%critmempo once in your life (which i never looted btw i had one mempo drop in 1.03 and it had no crit nor anything of that matter but you are probably talking out of your ass i can tell anyway ) What most people here and me are complaining about is the following. There is no excitement in Loothunting in PoE once you´re past that "fresh-air" point. sure i can exchange my fuses to exalts then buy something from someone that had luck while using botted currency (ive found 2 exalts in 1 month of nolifing the game) 0 eternals 0divines 0mirrors 0 kongors marohi shavronnes kaoms chest devotion bor andvarius montreguls you get the picture 0 better 2h axe then my kaoms primacy see if you were not a casual but someone who minmaxes ONE character you´d understand that PoE lootsystem is very bad , for two reasons. reason nr.1 it encourages rerolling , not all of us want to fucking play through the snoozefest again and use different spells wow how entertaining it must be to start out as a gimp again and use different setups to beat the same mobs again for the same shitdrops! reason nr.2 it invites botters RMTers tradewhores and other scumbags ruining the so called "economy" therefore it frustrates people who are truly hardcore about minmaxing , some cave in and play the tradegame others simply take a break or uninstal and become ghosts on the forums to check in now and then. When you realise that the carrot on a stick is merely a rotten dildo buried somewhere in nowheretobefoundghistan you slowly lose interest in "grinding". |

I dont know if it was BiS mempo, but it sold for 2 bil and I dont care otherwise. It had like nearly max rolls and dex, so it sold quick. I remember the ammy though.
286 str 182 vit 10% ias 96% CD 10% CC 73 res all Again, sold for 2 bil, probably could have gotten more had I went to forums or something, but I didnt care. Again, I dont even care to play the game. And they dont even have loot 2.0 now, much less three months ago. So I got those two drops on the old roll system, hence my WD got a str ammy and a dex mempo. Godly gear BiS, top of the line gear literally drops like rain over there, and the game suffers because of it. Also, again, I have a char I min max, and I do so well, without needing to drop max currency and high end sellers like those you listed. I've aquired all kinda of high end stuff through trading, it just took patience to find the right trade and trader. Not everyone is going to sell you a decent gear piece for low currency, but occasionally they do. Not everyone sells Kongors for 2 ex, but I have one I bought for 2 ex. Not everyone sells a Voltaxic Rift for 4 ex, but I found that one guy who did. Seriously, it all dwindles down to patience. If you are patient and steady, and willing to jump the gun when you do find that special deal, you can easily get good or godly gear without much incentive to find it. I cant help you if you dont like trading, its part of the game, and will remain that way for long times to come. If you want to play self found, thats a special case and it comes with burdens you put on yourself. You cant expect them to raise drops for just a special few peole playing self found, and they certainly cant change the drop rate because a few self found players are disappointed with their drops. Either route would ruin the economy and make good gear useless and only godly gear would do, much like it is in D3. " 1. You did not find chains of honors, engimas and million other of top end D2 items. 99% of the items were botted, duped and RMT traded. Please don't give BS about PoE inviting botters, RMTs and Tradewhores when D3 and D2 were all about the same thing. Hell the top players in D3 and D2 have the EXACT same duped BIS gear like the teeming necklace. 2. You are not hard core about min-maxing, min maxers get enjoyment about becoming the best in the most efficient way possible. They will roll multiple characters good at different things (One MF culler for piety/dom runs or ect, One for high level 78 maps and so on). They do not care about the time and effort putting in becoming the best and enjoy the challenge of figuring out the most efficient way of doing so. Even popular streams like Kripp who min-max make many characters to try out different things and figure out the best way to do something or how to make an new connect no one though of yet. Please toss out your ridiculous presented argument on false premises. All of you that complain want to be the best when you really don't want to put the time and effort into it. Even if they did change something like D3 to loot 2.0, you would still be jealous of other people gear that worked for it or got >lucky< (surprise it's an ARPG) or eventually hit a wall were you have the top 95% gear and finding the 5% gear better then that is extremely hard. I think the only problem this game has is the crap currency gamble thing.... well that and no self found league... They are two separate issues. The problem imo is the inability to get gear with 5l and 6l it doesn't have to be good gear just enough sockets to be able to create a build you envision.... the idea that until you grind maps you probably will never have a 6L sort of well... sucks... especially when there is no way to reset you passive tree (which I would no doubt be happy paying for)so most of the time you end up having a crap end game build unless you scour the forums to steal someone elses build and try to shoot for that... but still those builds usually require 5 or 6L gear... it's just annoying to me... I can grind forever but to "hit a wall" due to a really dumb game mechanic that makes no sense except to screw the player is a bit annoying. In short... I wished GGG would change this...

Honestly, I have only had on epic fail build that couldnt make it past normal and cruel, and that was a CI build that I went CI into way to early, which even then, I could have used a single regret or the one of 20 some passives the game literally hands you for nothing.
Really, if you cant fix your build with around 20 levels of backtracking, then you need to plan the build better. " That's NOT TELLING THE WHOLE STORY. Godly gear is godly gear no matter whether its' drops are dime a dozen or not. Because that gear despite any drop rate optimizes certain builds. That's the HOOK in designing loot games, you know the game engine with specific gear, -> makes a build super efficient. So the obvious thing is make that gear take sometime (what ever the odds Chris wants to put in the rng) to obtain. It doesn't make them less valuable (aka godly) at all, it just makes them less valuable if they drop frequently -> trade wise. So YOU are utterly wrong, it doesn't make them less godly at all. Their value to actually playing remains the same, but to the "how many chaos/exalts can I get for it" most certainly drops in godliness relative to their drop rate. Take that to the bank. Hah! " I agree with the first part of your post but this is just crap. I'm not only speaking for myself because others have said this as well, but this is how it works for me: In D2 I occasionnaly had very nice drops, a medium to high-ish level rune, a set item, a unique that I didn't have yet, etc. That was a blast! It's like a drug where you get hooked because you want to experience the same thing you had first time over and over again, so you keep using it (until you're addicted). This is what I want from games like this. That feeling when something great drops and you feel highly motivated to start a new build just because of this one item. I seriously cannot understand AT ALL how you would want it otherwise. I don't understand trade and I don't understand RMT. I actually don't understand how this game can be any fun AT ALL once you are rich and have some of the best gear. And I definetly don't think that I am an exception. And yet what you wrote can be seen so many times. And it's just so wrong. Last edited by Jojas#5551 on Dec 24, 2013, 6:03:05 PM

You can level really fast in this game if you have a friend rush you:
Norm ledge -> fellshrine -> docks Repeat for Cruel Repeat for Merciless Grouping speeds things up if you can find a good group, although normal groups are usually slow/clueless (no offense to new players). I got a dual totem character to 45 with 3-4 hours last week. Getting to 70 is not that hard I find; POE level 70 == D2 level 80 imo ign: SQLException dxdiag: http://pastebin.com/8WJ696Hu Last edited by stayBlind#5159 on Dec 24, 2013, 6:10:21 PM

There seem to be two divisions to this topic:
1) Those who don't mind grinding towards an unachievable goal. 2) Those who realize the above and want to make that goal achievable for everyone (or most, anyways.) |
