Amount of grinding in PoE, compared to Diablo 2

It's been my experience, the lame-ass player that I am, that if a player wants more maps, all they have to do is more generic maps.

Like more maps drop in maps even though they are white. I imagine in time my characters will become uber and start talking about how everyone else needs to pay for said maps.
long grind..

if u know what u are doing u dont grind long... i reached mapping stage on 1 day of play on my last toon. on nemesis.
getting gear to fix ure set with trade for a ring or neck that fills the resist u miss from own items is done sufficent with a few Chaos here and there...

now perfect setup mind blowing setup... facerole style, something all want, takes time... this is not hello kiddy game, and why i love it and put rediculess many hours into it. each item u use or passive affects ure overall setup, survivability and performance, so if u dont want veteran players of thies kind of games to play it one day figure the mechanics, and finish all aspects of it in a week and call it a day. u need this system.

I've never paid for a map, never. I have an excess abundance of maps that I cant get rid of, all over level 70. I merge every single map under level 70 once I get three, which is common. I'm not sure how people arent getting more maps from doing maps.

Loot hunt, not loot finding game. And honestly, sets and uniques dropped like rain in D2 as well, I ended up just selling them usually. At least they did after the LoD patch.

To be honest, you went on an epic tyrade and I didnt bother reading it. I got the general Idea out of it. Your sick of 'useless' gear dropping and you want alot more Shav's, Voltaxic, and Thunderfists to drop. Thats fine, then go out and go hunt for them.

If you dont like grinding for them to drop or the currency to buy them, why do you play ARPGs?

wonderful so you cherrypick basically sentences out of context without thinking about what you type.

maps suck there youve it now , those are MAPdrops way higher lvl then the lvl of those uniques same goes for shitmods on higher ilvl gear.

Im playing this game basically to have fun , and once i realise that this fun is artificially being sabotaged by an awful RNG system layered with RNG and flooded with lowlvl uniques i start to lose interest and look elsewhere for fun.

If i wanted to trade id follow the footsteps of my stepfather and become a merchant.
I play games for fun , i know this might sound terryfing to you but some people nowadays still play games for fun.

I guess they should change the drops from grinding for a few thousand hours and maybe find a good drop or two, to grinding for TENS of thousands of hours to find good drops.

That way we can enjoy the "grind" even more than we do now.

Why stop there? Lets go to millions of hours. That should make these guys feel even more elite when they get loot.

Seriously though... What is up with these no life tryhards thinking EVERYONE wants to just grind and grind and grind just to be able to say... "wow, that was fulfilling. I found some loot that actually isnt complete shit. Its not the best but its also not a lvl 8 uniq." They automatically jump to the " OHHHHH, YOU JUST WANT SHAVZ AND KOAMZ TO DROP FROM THE SKY! YOU WANT TO PLAY FOR 5 MINUTES AND DO LVL 99 MAPS. SO ENTITLED! THIS GAME IS ABOUT TRYING TO GET GOOD GEAR! ITS SUPPOSED TO TAKE THOUSANDS OF HOURS! THEY ARE KALLD GRINDING GEAR GAMES FOR A REASON! DUHHH!"

SO yeah... Back it down kiddies. In diablo 2 when I farmed for hours and got all those set pieces and alright uniques and alright rares I could sell them to people because everyone could put those items to use in some way or another. I didnt feel poor because I could just take my tals set pieces I found and make a mf char with them and before long I was competitive in pvp in no time (real end game). In this game lol... Making a farm char is annoying all its own because you are underpowered (with mf gear) unless you have nice items and then when you do get nice items its kinda self defeating because wtf are you going to do with the char who should be wearing those items? Replace the mf gear he is wearing to make him even worth using? Pray for a 6l so you can throw some rarity/quantity gems on him. Sigh... Endgame in this game is just... i dont even know... What good is having a beefy char when your drops will suck without mf shit. In Diablo 2 it was dueling that fueld me to get good gear. In this game... I havent really landed on wtf i should do with loot...

Now the issue sounds like your not enjoying the game anymore. You dont seem to want to grind end game maps for gear and loot. If this is the case, why exactly are you still playing?

I myself have been playing for a year now and enjoying every moment of it. Yes, sometimes I get frustrated when I die a few times, or when I lose a decently leveled char to a bad mod combo on HC, but I still play and enjoy it.

If you arent enjoying this game anymore, if the grind is to annoying for you, and your not getting the loot drops you want, consider retiring the game.

All of you that complain want to be the best when you really don't want to put the time and effort into it. Even if they did change something like D3 to loot 2.0, you would still be jealous of other people gear that worked for it or got >lucky< (surprise it's an ARPG) or eventually hit a wall were you have the top 95% gear and finding the 5% gear better then that is extremely hard.

I agree with the first part of your post but this is just crap. I'm not only speaking for myself because others have said this as well, but this is how it works for me: In D2 I occasionnaly had very nice drops, a medium to high-ish level rune, a set item, a unique that I didn't have yet, etc.
That was a blast! It's like a drug where you get hooked because you want to experience the same thing you had first time over and over again, so you keep using it (until you're addicted).

This is what I want from games like this. That feeling when something great drops and you feel highly motivated to start a new build just because of this one item.

I seriously cannot understand AT ALL how you would want it otherwise. I don't understand trade and I don't understand RMT. I actually don't understand how this game can be any fun AT ALL once you are rich and have some of the best gear.
And I definetly don't think that I am an exception.

And yet what you wrote can be seen so many times. And it's just so wrong.

Your misunderstanding the issue, the problem isn't the lack of drop rates. It's the lack of items to find period

Your going to compare PoE just drop rates items to game that can drop items, runes, set items and a multitude of many more unique.

If you actually read my posts you would find that I am a advocate of dismissing theses silly claims with self-found league and all drop rated posts because they are all missing the point of why D2 was so fun. I fully support more content, more acts coming out and following examples of D2 of why it was so in depth.

It was the AMOUNT of different type of stuff you can find that you can constantly build up your character, the ONLY drops in this game is gear, skill gems and orbs that make more gear.

D2 was addicting because you could find gear, craft gear and gamble gear. Not only there there were item set, many many more legendaries, runes, jewels, charms, torches, you could gear your follower ect.

When people had top gear in D2 like chains of honour, runeword grief and so on. They continued to do boss runes because there was multiple BIS items for their character and they can continue to find items that I mention above that can easily make new characters with or continue to power up their character.

So the amount of grinding and item drop rate in this game will NEVER satisfy players who are looking for the game "D2 drugs" because simply there is nothing in the game item hunt wise that will come close to what you would be looking for.

There seem to be two divisions to this topic:

1) Those who don't mind grinding towards an unachievable goal.

2) Those who realize the above and want to make that goal achievable for everyone (or most, anyways.)

The whole thing is that goal isnt unachievable, its just absurdly difficult, in either a way of time management or a method of luck. But its there. If getting to max level was unachievable, then there wouldnt be ANYONE at max level. If finding a voltaxic rift was impossible, then they wouldnt even exist in the game.

Max level is unecessary to play this game and enjoy it, nor is the end game godly gear. You can do everything you want with great or even good gear for that matter. You can go through the game end game maps with 7k health and 10k dps, you dont need to strech as far as possible to get that 11k dps and 8k health. It wont make too much of a difference.

I want there to be an end game that is difficult to get to, by either grinding or getting lucky I dont want anyone getting an easy ride to Godlyness. Not me, not you, not anyone. Godly is just that,Godly. Not everyone needs to run around with pristine gear, only a select few who are determined to get there should have that option.

No I dont have godly gear but one day I will. I'd rather take my time to get it than just have the drops amped up and have it tossed at me.

I wasn't talking about lvl 100. I was talking about maxing a character.

Ok, you were talking in game currency, which again, you dont have to pay for. If you cant keep your own map pool up by simply doing maps, you must not be doing something right. I have tons of maps and everytime I do a map, I get like 2-3 more out of it. I have a stash tab nearly full of nothing but 70+ maps and I'm thinking of just merging them to 75+ maps to cut down on my space.

And as I said to someone else, if you dont like grinding, why do you play an ARPG?

What a pile of shit, sorry...

What am I doing wrong if I didn't get over 10 refunds in 78 map until now, and I've used 100+ till this very day.

What am I doing wrong when I roll a map of 140% IIQ and get zero maps while someone puts a 50% IIQ map and gets 6 maps?

Please, don't embarrass yourself.

The maps are the UTTER SHIT in this game, where you have to waste your currency to level efficiently if you're unlucky in getting constant drops.

Bunch of shit and I would like to ask someone who thought of it, why? Why making a basic leveling process a luck dependent process?
